Position Title: Assistant Professor – Game Design and Development Department: School of Design and Digital Transmedia Location: Dayananda Sagar University, Kudlu Gate Campus, Bengaluru, India Employment Type: Full-Time / RegularAbout the Role: The School of Design and Digital Transmedia at Dayananda Sagar University invites applications for the position ofAssistant Professor in Game Design and Development . The ideal candidate should possess strong creative and technical proficiency inGame Design, Game Development, Level Design, and Interactive Media Production , with an aptitude for innovation, research, and academic mentorship. The role involves teaching undergraduate students in theB.Des – Game Designprogram, guiding interactive projects, and contributing to the development of academic and industry-linked research in the evolving fields ofGame Art, Game Programming, and Immersive Media .Key Responsibilities: • Deliver engaging sessions onGame Design Principles, Game Mechanics, Level Design, and Game Development Tools . • Mentor students in designing and developing 2D/3D games and prototypes using engines likeUnityorUnreal Engine . • Guide students oninteractive storytelling, gameplay systems, and user experiencein games. • Develop and updatecourse content, lab manuals, and project modulesaligned with industry practices and new technologies. • Encourage and guide students throughgame jams, collaborative projects, and portfolio development . • Conduct and publishresearch or creative workin areas such as game design, gamification, AR/VR, or interactive media. • Collaborate with faculty, industry experts, and research bodies oninterdisciplinary and industry-driven projects . • Actively participate instudent reviews, exhibitions, events, hackathons, and academic administration .Essential Qualifications: • Postgraduate degree ( M.Des / M.F.A / M.V.A / M.Techor equivalent) inGame Design, Game Development, Interactive Media, or related disciplines . •Ph.D. (Completed or Pursuing)in Game Design, Digital Media, or relevant fields will be an added advantage. • Strong understanding ofgameplay systems, level design, and game production pipelines . • Proficiency ingame enginessuch as Unity, Unreal Engine, or Godot. • Familiarity with2D/3D asset creation toolssuch as Blender, Maya, Photoshop, or Substance Painter. • Understanding ofprogramming/scripting concepts(C#, Python, Blueprint, or equivalent). • Excellentcommunication, mentoring, and presentation skillswith a passion for interactive learning.Desirable Attributes: • Familiarity withAI in game design ,procedural content generation , andXR (AR/VR/MR) applications . • Experience inacademic research , publications, orgame studio collaborations . • Ability to integratedesign thinking and user-centred design approachesin teaching. • Strong organisational, teamwork, and leadership skills. • Commitment to fosteringinnovation, play-based learning, and creative pedagogyin game education.Remuneration Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, as perDayananda Sagar University norms .Application Procedure: Interested candidates are requested to submit the following: A detailedCV/Resume ADigital Portfolioshowcasing game design documentation, prototypes, and playable projects AStatement of Purposedescribing teaching philosophy and research/creative interestsApplications may be submitted to:rashmi-des@dsu.edu.in / careers@dsu.edu.inDate: 05-12-2025 Dr. D.
