Fashion Designer

Role PurposeThe purpose of the role is to be responsible for conceptualizing and creating athleisure wear for CAVA that aligns with current fashion trends, market demands, and the brand's aesthetic. The role combines artistic skills, technical expertise, and market awareness to design unique and appealing fashion products.Key ResponsibilitiesResearch and Inspiration • Stay updated with the latest fashion trends, styles, and cultural influences. • Draw inspiration from various sources, global fashion trends & events • Overseeing the research and development of new styles for organizations in the past experiences • Conducting market research to identify new trends, fabrics and seek design inspirationConcept Development • Produce visually appealing and innovative fashion products in line with Cava’s aesthetic and brand promise • Create design concepts and sketches for CAVA athleisure considering factors like colour, fabric, texture, and silhouette • Develop mood boards and presentations to communicate design ideas • Create tech packs for styles and have a good understanding of market viability and commercial scalabilityProduction & Design Process • Choose appropriate fabrics, trims, and materials for each design, considering factors such as comfort, durability, and cost • Develop patterns for garments and accessories, ensuring proper fit and functionality. • Collaborate with pattern makers and sample developers to bring designs to life. • Oversee the creation of prototypes and samples, making necessary adjustments to achieve the desired design and fit. Work closely with seamstresses, tailors, and manufacturers • Create detailed technical drawings and specifications, including measurements, construction details, and sewing instructions, to guide the production process • Quality Control by overseeing the production process to ensure that the final products meet quality standards and design specifications • Adaptation and Iteration: Review feedback from colleagues, clients, and customers, and make necessary revisions to designs based on input and market demands • Managing the design process from conception to final stylingTrend Forecasting • Analyse market trends and consumer preferences to anticipate future fashion trends and adapt designs accordingly • Collaborate with teams to create fashionable clothing line that aligns with CAVA business strategyBrand Identity • Ensure that designs align with the CAVA’s brand aesthetic, target audience, and overall image & brand promiseCollaboration & Presentation • Collaborate with other designers, merchandisers, and marketing teams to develop cohesive fashion collections and promotional materials • Showcase designs through fashion shows, presentations, and promotional materials to potential buyers, clients, and the mediaBehavioral Competencies • Execution Excellence • Ideation • Creativity • Learning Agility • Excellent communication and presentation skills • Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally with teamsQualifications & Experience • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Knitwear Design or a related field (or equivalent work experience) • 2 years of work experience in the fashion department of any D2C fashion brand in India • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) • Knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, and sewing techniques • Understanding of textiles, fabrics, and material properties • Trend forecasting and market research skills • Familiarity with market research and competitive analysis technique • Experience In menswear category is a good to have
