About the Team
Our Operations team works with a diverse customer base to support several nationally significant supply chains. With management responsibility spanning across five states, our 8,500km rail network is used to transport bulk products, passenger and general freight, including steel and a vast array of consumer items such as groceries, electrical goods and other items for both import and export markets.
The Operations teams work within several complex and challenging environments, including some of the busiest rail corridors in Australia to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable service delivery outcomes for its customers, stakeholders and the community.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic leader to lead the Asset Maintenance Hunter Valley Corridor Works team to drive the safe, efficient and timely delivery of the annual works programmes. This role is pivotal in ensuring all projects are completed within approved budgets and scheduled timeframes, while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
- Oversee the safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery of Major Periodic Maintenance (MPM) and Capital Works projects across the Hunter Valley Network.
- Build strong relationships with internal peer stakeholders to collaborate and collectively deliver safe, resilient and reliable work across the ARTC network.
- Ensure all projects are planned to minimise the impact of the work on ARTC’s operations (customers) and ensure that the work is completed in accordance with ARTC procedures.
- Champion innovation and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, reduce waste, and optimise project outcomes.
- Maintain accurate financial forecasting, budget management and deliver value for money outcomes for both customers and shareholders.
- Proactively Identify, evaluate and manage project risks throughout the project lifecycle ensuring compliance with ARTC procedures and standards.
What We’re Looking for
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
- A degree in engineering or equivalent qualifications with further post graduate education qualifications.
- A Drivers Licence – Class C.
- Extensive experience in engineering maintenance and construction, specifically within rail, civil, electrical and or structural disciplines.
- Strong understanding of safety management and WHS principles, with a demonstrated ability to implement them effectively.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of project delivery through a range of contractor engagement models.
- Significant experience in tendering and negotiation of contracts of varying complexities
- A solid track record in managing project costs, budgets, and timelines across multiple projects.
- Highly developed written and oral communication and presentation skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities, interpersonal skills, and the capacity to plan and organise team workload efficiently.
