Head of Finance

Job brief:

As the Head of Finance / Chief Finance Officer, you will be responsible for managing the finance team and providing analytical support to the finance team, aiding in the financial planning and analysis processes. You will analyse current and past financial data and performance, prepare reports and projections based on this analysis, and assist in the development of financial models to support decision-making. You will work closely with CEO and corporate head office finance teams to help make informed economic decisions about the company's future.

Key Responsibilities:

Managing the finance team:

- Supervising the finance team members to ensure accurate and on-time reporting of financial data

- Conduct performance reviews for the team along with addition or removal of team members

Financial Management:

- Identify and manage financial risks. Device mitigation strategies, and implement control mechanisms.

- Manage budgets, cash flow, revenue and enhance profitability.

- Ensure strict adherence to regulatory guidelines and corporate reporting standards.

- Participate in capital allocation decisions, balancing the need for investments thereby enhancing return on investment for shareholders.

- Participate in strategic planning sessions, capital investment decisions and M&A.

Financial Analysis and Reporting:

- Analyse financial data and trends to provide accurate financial recommendations to management.

- Create detailed reports on financial performance, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

- Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analysing actual results with plans and forecasts.

- Present financial data to the board and stakeholders during periodic reviews.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

- Prepare the company's budget and financial forecasts and report variances.

- Generate automated financial reports and dashboards using business intelligence tools to provide real-time insights into financial metrics.

- Enhance the granularity and accuracy of financial reports, making them easily accessible to stakeholders through interactive platforms.

- Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives and guide long-term business plans.

Investment Analysis:

- Conduct investment analysis and valuation of projects and potential acquisitions.

- Use analytics tools to simulate the financial impact of potential acquisitions and investments.

- Assist with capital structure planning and the assessment of potential risks.

Stakeholder Communication:

- Present financial reports to senior management and corporate HQ

Operational Efficiency Improvements:

- Identify trends in financial performance and provide recommendations for improvement.

- Collaborate with team members across departments to streamline operations and optimize profitability.

- Integrate finance analytics tools to monitor and report on operational costs, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.

- Automate financial processes where possible to reduce manual workload and increase accuracy.

Regulatory and Compliance Oversight:

- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and procedures.

- Stay current with developments in the field of corporate finance, changes in regulations, and industry practices.

Training and Development:

- Train finance department staff on the effective use of financial analytics tools and software.

- Stay updated on the latest financial software and technologies, recommending upgrades and new tools as needed.

Requirements and skills:

- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.

- 8+ years of experience in financial analysis, financial reporting, accounting, or a related field.

- Strong proficiency in financial modelling techniques and spreadsheet functions.

- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

- Strong proficiency with advanced financial modelling software and data analysis tools.

- Strong attention to detail with superb organizational skills.

- Ability to multi-task and manage competing deadlines.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Proficiency with business intelligence platforms, financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

- MBA or Master's in Finance.

- CPA or CFA designation.

- Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

- Experience in the software technology industry.
