We're looking for a hands-on engineering leader who thrives on building high-quality, testable, and scalable software systems. This role combines deep software engineering fundamentals with strong test automation expertise to drive a developer-first quality culture across the full SDLC.

Key Responsibilities

Testing Strategy & Quality Engineering

  • Define and drive a holistic test strategy across unit, integration, contract, performance, and system-level testing.
  • Champion a shift-left, developer-owned quality mindset from design through release.
  • Partner with engineering teams to improve code testability and reduce defects through proactive feedback.
  • Promote advanced testing practices such as Specification by Example, contract testing, and property-based testing.
  • Lead quality engineering initiatives across Java, Node.js, PHP, React, and mobile platforms.

Test Infrastructure & Tooling

  • Architect and build scalable, reusable automation frameworks in Java, Node.js, or PHP.
  • Create developer-friendly test harnesses, mock APIs, and in-memory services for local and CI testing.
  • Develop DSLs, test fixtures, and dynamic test scenario tooling to accelerate test coverage.
  • Ensure seamless integration with CI/CD systems, optimizing for speed, feedback, and observability.
  • Drive test observability with detailed failure traceability across distributed systems.

Developer Enablement

  • Provide self-service local test environments that mirror CI and production with a single command.
  • Build APIs, libraries, and utilities enabling deterministic, reproducible test states.
  • Lead by example—writing high-quality test code, mocks, and fixture-driven tests.
  • Develop sandbox environments for safe experimentation with edge cases, performance, and resilience testing.

Leadership & Practice Development

  • Mentor engineers in TDD, BDD, mocking strategies, and advanced test design.
  • Champion a culture where quality is a shared engineering responsibility.
  • Lead deep-dives, workshops, and retrospectives focused on test architecture and system health.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, Product, and Architecture teams to shape test infrastructure and deployment pipelines.

What We're Looking For

Technical Skills

  • Strong coding expertise in at least one language: Java, Node.js, or PHP (others are a plus).
  • Proven track record building test frameworks, developer tools, or testing libraries.
  • Experience with REST API testing, contract testing, and service virtualization.
  • Hands-on with tools like JUnit, TestNG, Jest, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, or WireMock.
  • Familiarity with mocking frameworks, controlled data generation, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized environments (Docker, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Ability to influence system design and architecture for testability and observability.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration with engineering, DevOps, and product teams.
  • Experience mentoring engineers, driving best practices, and scaling quality processes.
