We Core Solutions are hiring for the role of Lead DBA to join our Team.Role Lead DBA (MSSQL DBA with AWS RDS).Experience 12 - 14 years.Location Chennai.Work Mode Work from Office (Flexible Working hours).Notice Period Immediate to 45 Days.Position Summary :We are seeking a Lead DBA to be part of the Infrastructure and Operations team through our journey of transformation as we transition to a SaaS-first organization. This role will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of database systems in the cloud (AWS RDS, Aurora, etc. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring databases are secure, scalable, highly available, and cost-efficient while guiding a team of DBAs.Role and Responsibilities :Database Administration & Leadership :- Lead and mentor a team of DBAs/engineers, providing technical direction and best practices.- Oversee installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades of SQL Server and AWS-managed databases.- Ensure database systems meet business performance, security, and availability requirements.- Act as the escalation point for complex database performance and reliability issues.Database Design & Architecture :- Design and implement database solutions for high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR).- Lead data modeling and schema design to support application requirements.- Architect hybrid environments integrating on-prem SQL Server with AWS RDS/Aurora.- Optimize database storage, partitioning, and indexing strategies.Performance Tuning & Optimization :- Conduct performance analysis, query tuning, and optimization of SQL workloads.- Identify and resolve bottlenecks in database systems.- Establish database monitoring solutions (CloudWatch, Performance Monitor, third-party tools).- Drive automation for routine DBA tasks (backups, health checks, indexing).Cloud Database Management (AWS) :- Manage AWS RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, and other cloud-native database services.- Implement automated backup, replication, and failover strategies in AWS.- Monitor and optimize AWS costs for database workloads.- Ensure secure integration between applications and AWS-managed databases.Security & Compliance :- Enforce database security best practices, encryption, and access controls.- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, etc.- Manage identity and access policies (IAM) for AWS databases.- Conduct audits and vulnerability assessments on database environments.Backup, Recovery & DR Strategy :- Define and implement backup and recovery strategies across SQL and AWS databases.- Perform regular DR drills and ensure RPO/RTO objectives are met.- Maintain replication and clustering for mission-critical systems.Stakeholder & Project Management :- Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and architects to support application and analytics workloads.- Work with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and SLAs.- Provide database-related input for cloud migration, modernization, and digital transformation initiatives.- Prepare documentation, SOPs, and knowledge transfer for DB teams.What we are looking for :- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field.- 12-14 years of experience working in SQL Server administration including performance tuning, replication, clustering, Always ON).- 4-5 years of experience working in AWS database services (RDS, Aurora, Redshift).- Experience in DB migrations, upgrades to the cloud and on the cloud.- Strong knowledge of backup/recovery strategies, HA/DR design, and monitoring tools.- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills.- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.- Should be able to lead from the front while directing the team and taking direction from the leadership as necessary.- Knowledge of IT Service Management (ITIL4, ISO 20000) and understanding of security standards (ISO 27001, NIST, SOC2).Nice to have :- AWS certification(s).- Familiarity with DevOps/CI-CD for databases (e.g., Liquibase, Flyway).- Knowledge of scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash, or SQL scripts).- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.- Highly motivated and results oriented.About us Core Solutions Inc.
