About the role:


Luminar Technologies is looking for a Staff Systems Requirements Engineer to be a part of a talented team of system engineers working on exciting new opportunities in the autonomous mobility and ADAS markets. The individual will be responsible for ensuring the development and implementation of high-quality system, hardware and software requirements for automotive products. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams including system architects, electrical engineers, software engineers, and product owners to gather, analyze and document requirements, as well as validate and verify compliance with industry standards and regulations.

This is a first set of lead hires for this function, as we look to augment this function at Luminar, India. You will be part of a high cross-functional team and responsible for rapid prototyping and product development at Luminar.


Job Responsibilities:


  • Lead the requirements engineering process, including elicitation, analysis, specification, validation, and management of requirements throughout the product life cycle.
  • Collaborate with system architects, Electrical engineers, software engineers, and product owners to define and document product requirements that meet customer and market needs, and ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain requirements specifications, traceability matrices, and related artifacts, and ensure they are communicated effectively to stakeholders.
  • Manage changes to requirements and ensure proper impact analysis and documentation.
  • Participate in design and code reviews, and support test engineers in defining and executing system and software tests to ensure compliance with requirements and quality standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior requirements engineers and other cross-functional team members.
  • Negotiate with Customers on change in the requirement and track the necessary changes.
  • Clarify ambiguous requirements with internal or external customer
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to requirements engineering processes and tools, and ensure best practices are shared across teams and projects.


Qualifications and Role Requirements:


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • At least six years of experience in requirements engineering in the automotive/aerospace industry, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality products.
  • Strong knowledge of requirements engineering principles, methodologies, and tools, and experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, Polarion, Codebeamer or Jama.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and with customers and suppliers.
  • Experience with safety-critical systems and related standards such as ISO 26262, ASPICE, or IEC 61508 is a plus.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies is a plus.
