We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Database Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing and optimizing databases, proficient knowledge of SQL, AWS, AWS RDS, and Power BI. As a Database Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex database systems that ensure data integrity, security, and performance.

Key Responsibilities :

Database Design and Architecture :

- Design and implement efficient and scalable database solutions to support business applications and data needs.

- Ensure optimal database structure, indexing, and normalization while meeting performance and scalability requirements.

- Collaborate with development teams to design, develop, and optimize databases for new and existing applications.

- Architect cloud-based solutions for database deployments, leveraging AWS RDS (Relational Database Service) for scalability and high availability.

SQL Development and Optimization :

- Write complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.

- Optimize SQL queries and stored procedures for performance improvements.

- Troubleshoot slow-running queries and suggest improvements for better efficiency.

- Implement database migration strategies when needed and ensure minimal downtime during migrations.

AWS RDS Management :

- Manage and maintain cloud-based database solutions using AWS RDS services (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Aurora, etc.).

- Ensure high availability, backup, and disaster recovery processes for databases in AWS environments.

- Monitor database performance using AWS CloudWatch, implement auto-scaling, and optimize resource allocation.

- Manage security best practices for AWS RDS, ensuring proper access controls, encryption, and patch management.

Power BI Integration and Reporting :

- Develop and manage Power BI reports and dashboards to provide insights and decision-making support for internal teams and stakeholders.

- Integrate database systems with Power BI for real-time data analytics, reporting, and visualization.

- Ensure data consistency and quality in reports, and troubleshoot issues related to data discrepancies.

- Automate and schedule reports to optimize reporting efficiency and accuracy.

Database Performance Tuning and Maintenance :

- Proactively monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning techniques to improve query and overall system performance.

- Regularly review and optimize database structures, indexes, and storage for better resource usage.

- Maintain database security by implementing encryption, access control, and backup strategies.

- Perform routine maintenance tasks including data integrity checks, optimization, and updates.

Collaboration and Documentation :

- Work closely with cross-functional teams (Development, Infrastructure, Data Science) to ensure database systems meet the business needs.

- Provide database support and troubleshooting for internal stakeholders.

- Maintain clear documentation for database schemas, architecture, and processes.

- Create and maintain knowledge bases and internal documentation for best practices related to database development and maintenance.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- Proven experience (3+ years) as a Database Engineer or in a similar role.

- Strong proficiency in SQL, including complex query writing, stored procedures, and performance tuning.

- Extensive experience working with AWS, especially AWS RDS (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Aurora).

- Experience with database migration and optimization in AWS environments.

- Proficient in Power BI for developing and maintaining dashboards, reports, and data visualizations.

- Solid understanding of database architecture, indexing, and normalization techniques.

- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, monitoring tools (AWS CloudWatch, RDS Performance Insights), and automation.

- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering scalable and efficient solutions.

- Strong communication and collaboration skills, capable of working in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Skills :

- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Database - Specialty certification.

- Experience with data warehousing, ETL processes, and big data technologies.

- Familiarity with Python or other scripting languages for automating tasks.
