Roundglass Sports is transforming sports in the state of Punjab by creating an environment that’s both desirable and equitable, building infrastructure, training and motivation through an Academy and Grassroots program to help players reach their full potential.
Our focus is on bringing world class standards to Roundglass Punjab Football Club and The RoundGlass Sports Academy which will support the development of talent in football, hockey and tennis, underpinned by the principles of wholistic wellbeing.
About the role:
You will be responsible for collaborating with a multi-disciplinary sports team to design and deploy contemporary practices, that promote the emotional and mental wellbeing of a diverse group of athletes. This position will play an important role in ensuring the psychological readiness of professional athletes to engage in high-performance athletic competitions. The Senior Sports Psychologist will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing mental performance strategies to enhance the psychological well-being and performance of athletes. This position involves working closely with athletes, coaches, and support staff to deliver tailored psychological interventions, conduct assessments, and foster an environment that encourages resilience, motivation, and peak performance. The ideal candidate should possess extensive experience in sports psychology, demonstrate a thorough understanding of high-performance environments, and show the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

What you’ll do:
Performance Enhancement and Mental Skills Training
- Develop and implement individualized mental skills training programs, including goal setting, focus and concentration techniques, imagery, and visualization.
- Provide strategies to enhance motivation, resilience, and self-confidence in athletes.
- Train athletes in managing performance anxiety, stress, and competitive pressures to improve their focus and execution.
Psychological Assessment and Evaluation
- Conduct psychological assessments to evaluate athletes' mental strengths, areas for improvement, and overall psychological readiness for competition.
- Analyze assessment data and feedback to create actionable mental training plans.
- Monitor and track athlete progress over time and adjust interventions as necessary.
Counseling and Emotional Support
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions for athletes to address challenges related to performance, injury, recovery, and life balance.
- Support athletes dealing with transitions, career changes, or setbacks.
- Act as a confidential resource for mental health concerns, referring to external specialists as required.
Team Dynamics and Coach Collaboration
- Work closely with coaches to align psychological strategies with training objectives and competition goals.
- Facilitate team-building activities to improve team cohesion, trust, and communication.
- Educate and support coaches on psychological principles and athlete management techniques.
Education and Training
- Deliver workshops and seminars on topics such as stress management, mental toughness, and focus enhancement to athletes, coaches, and staff.
- Provide ongoing mental health education to athletes, promoting self-awareness and positive mental health practices.
- Stay updated on best practices and innovations in sports psychology and share relevant insights with the team.
Research and Development
- Engage in research projects to advance knowledge and application of sports psychology within the organization.
- Assess the effectiveness of psychological interventions and refine practices based on findings.
- Publish or present research findings to contribute to the broader field of sports psychology working closely with Research Team
- Work with the cross functional leads to support integration and interconnection with the other team members and teams for athlete wholistic wellbeing
- Lead the development of clear protocols for assessment, review, referral, discharge and recommend reasonable adjustments
- Assist cross functional leads in the development of policies and procedures, budgeting, planning and deliverables related to wellbeing and sports psychology
Skills & Qualifications:
Education: Master’s or Doctorate in Sports Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or related field. Licensure: Licensed or certified in sports psychology or clinical psychology (if required by location). Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience working with athletes in high-performance sports environments. Skills
- Deep understanding of sports psychology theories and techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with athletes, coaches, and staff.
- Ability to handle confidential information sensitively and ethically.
- Proficient in data collection and analysis for psychological assessments.
- Familiarity with common psychological tools and software used in sports settings.
- High order listening skills with expertise in using breathing, relaxation and/or cognitive techniques to instill focus and mental intensity that is necessary for athletes to increase their performance levels
- Ability to collaborate successfully as part of a multi-disciplinary team to achieve performance and wellbeing objectives
- Ability to communicate information in a manner that is easily understood by a range of audiences
- A creative thinker, receptive to feedback with willing to learn; one who can successfully navigate and resolve interpersonal conflicts
- An authentic passion to role model and practice the science and art of wholistic Wellbeing
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with elite, professional, or Olympic-level athletes.
- Certification from a recognized sports psychology association (e.g., Association for Applied Sport Psychology - AASP).
- Background in developing performance programs for individual and team sports.
Working Conditions
- Flexible schedule, including availability during evenings, weekends, and competition periods.
- Travel may be required to attend competitions, training camps, or other relevant events.
