Responsibilities:

The UK actuarial team acts as technical experts to the Financial Services team and other PKF firms in our network. We are looking for a leader to establish our Indian presence. Ideally, you would be an actuary with five years post qualified experience. You will have effective communication and technical skills to support our business growth from India.

You will be involved in a variety of client assignments and work closely with other experts in the division. The UK actuarial team's work includes external and internal audits, reserve reviews, Solvency II actuarial reporting, IFRS 17 transition assessments, capital calculations and merger and acquisition due diligence analysis. Our clients include London Market underwriters, Syndicates at Lloyd's, P&I clubs, captive insurers and other insurance and reinsurance entities underwriting commercial and personal lines business based in the UK and across Europe.

You will be able to apply your actuarial technical knowledge and experience to assess and provide findings/recommendations/ to the audit partner. This role will also offer the post-holder the opportunity to gain experience, play a key part with developing the in-house team capabilities and be a key driver in initiating PKF's Indian actuarial practice.

Duties and responsibilities:

- Managing multi-disciplinary client engagement teams to deliver high quality actuarial work as part of external audit assignments

- Use appropriate data, standard actuarial methods, and assumptions to independently project reserves for audit and due diligence assignments.

- Calculate SCRs using the Standard Formula approach to provide assurance on the technical accuracy of clients' results.

- Other ad hoc work across reserving, capital modelling and pricing including advisory assignments, internal audits, and due diligence.

- Building and maintaining strong relationships with both new and existing clients as well as within PKF, including with international PKF network firms

- Support the enhancement of actuarial procedures to support the actuarial work undertaken.

- Function as peer reviewer for other team members which includes performing technical accuracy checks.

- Assist/lead with developing the library of resources to support actuarial work, sharing knowledge and experience, and contributing to the development of the UK team.

- Manage, develop, train junior members of staff.

- Supporting senior management efforts to cultivate and maintain target client relationships, including assisting with proposals and the development of sales materials.

- Creation and contribution to high quality thought leadership through written publications, training events, client seminars and conferences

Experience and Technical Knowledge:

- Seven or more years of Property & Casualty experience, ideally in the London Market, -with strong experience in reserving

- Can apply knowledge of the standard actuarial reserving methods used in non-life insurance and confidently lead the work.

- Can perform SCR Standard Formula calculations independently.

- Pricing or capital experience is ideal.

- Experience with using reserving or capital modelling software tools.

- Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

- Previous audit or consulting experience is helpful but not essential.

- Experience with coding in VBA, SQL, R, or other programming language is ideal.

Qualifications :


Achieved a degree in an Actuarial, Mathematical or Statistical/Quantitative related degree.

Five years post qualification as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (or equivalent)
