Key Job Elements:

  • Ability to work with a variety of different customer specific options. HVAC applications, Toilet applications, Seating Systems, Ergonomics, Visibility studies & other in-CAB features, various electrical options, such as radio applications
  • Basic understanding of UG (or a similar 3D CAD software package), Teamcenter, GD&T principles, complex bills of materials and overall large OEM manufacturing knowledge.
  • Capable to work in Individual capacity as well as a team player.
  • Performs design analysis.
  • Conduct Design Reviews.
  • Assists in developing engineering designs.
  • Assists in implementing engineering changes.
  • Initiates documents to provide engineering authority and to maintain math data.
  • Participates in solution of engineering related product problems (Root Cause);
  • Provides technical direction to support personnel.
  • Works with engineering functions, suppliers, plant personnel and others to implement cost reduction, methods improvement, product improvements, and to support build programs.
  • Plans and implements test and / or development programs.
  • Releases parts for production
  • Communicates information to and from internal and external customer organizations.
  • Coordinates and consults with departments outside engineering such as manufacturing.
  • Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products.
  • Regular contact with others outside the work group.
  • Travels as required.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Engineering Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Aeronautical Engineering, Physics, Materials Engineering,
  • College level theoretical and applied mechanics, vibrations, fluid dynamics, physics, metallurgy, electricity, thermodynamics, heat transfer and manufacturing techniques
  • 1 to 5 years of Vehicle integration / Component Engineering experience in Automotive / Off-Highway / Mining Machines.
  • 1 to 5 years of experience using CAD tools, Team Centre & Unigraphics experience preferred.
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult.
  • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of design.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
  • Understanding of design / manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work independently and with others.
  • Knowledge of computer engineering software.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a large, distributed project organization.


Preferred:


  • Knowledge of Diesel – Electric Locomotive Systems is preferred.
  • Advanced college degree with major in engineering
  • Railroad Experience is preferred.
