Job Summary

The Cost Engineer plays an integral role in building out a cost management platform internally.

Job Responsibilities

To accomplish the technical implementation of the aPriori platform, the implementation engineer:

  • Will handle project management and execution to meet internal timelines and expectations.
  • Will prioritize ‘projects’ based on implementation time and impact on internal product cost management strategy (value of project).
  • Supports aPriori solution configuration, which requires the modeling of manufacturing facilities, including capabilities, rules, and accounting rates.
  • Will work with subject matter experts to deeply understand manufacturing processes/operations. Can associate operation/process to geometric features, cycle time, and cost impact. Can develop logic (formulas and rules) to capture that relationship.
  • Will inform users and maintain documentation on configurations made. Will train them on improving their cost estimates with the updates made; this will include documenting and reviewing the step by step clicks and considerations to make when costing.

Academic Qualifications

  • B.Tech/BE in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing

Experience

  • 1-5 years’ experience in costing of metallic components or Diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Tools
  • 5 to 10 years’ experience in costing of metallic components with Die Design

Skills Required

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Understanding of design and manufacturing challenges when developing a product.
  • Strong negotiation skills to defend your cost model with logic.
  • Exposure to machining shop floor & supply chain.
  • Must understand derivation of machine hour rate.
  • In-depth understanding of cost models and related cost estimates to drive confidence in estimates throughout organization.
  • Proven critical thinker and team player who is results-driven and has a positive attitude.
  • Skilled with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with a basic scripting language and CAD is a plus.
  • aPriori Super User (can cost in aPriori and make manual overrides to tune in cost) is a plus.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes involved in Machining, Forging, Casting. Additive Manufacturing is a plus.

This is an office-based position, with the expectation to come in four days a week.
