Job Overview :
Join our dynamic team as a VP - Data Security and become a central figure in enhancing operational excellence and delivering key solutions within the FIC (Fixed Income, Currencies, and Commodities) Markets space. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned information security leader with a strong focus on data protection. You will lead the operational execution of enterprise data protection tools, manage incident response workflows, and ensure the efficiency of data discovery, classification, and protection across diverse environments. This role requires a strategic thinker with hands-on execution capability and a proven track record in data security.
Responsibilities :
- Lead Data Protection Operations : Lead the operational execution and management of enterprise-grade data protection tools, including BigID, Microsoft Information Protection (MIP), Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions (Symantec/Forcepoint), Thales, Truffle Hog, and other relevant technologies.
- Incident Response Management : Manage end-to-end incident response workflows specifically related to data leakage, sensitive data discovery, and misconfiguration, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Operational Efficiency : Ensure and continuously improve the operational efficiency of data discovery, classification, and protection capabilities across endpoints, cloud, and on-premise environments.
- Policy Definition & Implementation : Collaborate extensively with engineering, compliance, legal, and business teams to define, implement, and enforce robust data protection policies.
- Data Classification Strategy : Oversee and optimize data classification strategies, encompassing manual, suggestive, and automated approaches, to ensure accurate and consistent data labeling.
- Metrics & Reporting : Track and report key data security metrics, including incident trends, false positives, and adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs), providing clear insights to stakeholders.
- Adoption & Training : Drive adoption and implement user training programs focused on data classification and labeling best practices across the organization.
- Audit & Compliance Leadership : Actively participate in and lead security audits, risk assessments, and regulatory readiness reviews to ensure compliance with relevant frameworks and standards.
- Tool Lifecycle Management : Own the complete lifecycle of data protection tools, from onboarding and initial configuration to integration, ongoing tuning, and eventual decommissioning.
- Escalation & Communication : Serve as a primary escalation point for high-priority security incidents, manage executive reporting, and conduct stakeholder briefings on data security posture and incidents.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required :
- Overall Information Security Experience : 1315+ years of comprehensive experience in Information Security.
- Direct Data Protection Experience : 8+ years of direct, hands-on experience in data protection, DLP, or data privacy roles.
- Enterprise Tool Management : Proven experience managing enterprise-grade data protection tools such as BigID, Microsoft Information Protection (MIP), Symantec/Forcepoint DLP, Thales Cipher Trust, Truffle Hog, and/or other industry-leading solutions.
- Data Protection Fundamentals : Strong understanding of core data protection concepts, including data discovery, classification, encryption, rights management, and related regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, DPDP, CCPA).
- Cloud Security Expertise : Solid background in cloud security controls for major platforms like Microsoft 365, AWS, Azure, and GCP, as well as experience with hybrid deployments.
- Incident Response & Threat Modeling : Expertise in Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) integrations, incident response methodologies, and threat modeling.
- Automation/Scripting (Plus) : Experience with scripting or automation languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) is a valuable plus.
- Compliance Frameworks : Familiarity with widely recognized compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, and RBI.
Beneficial Skills & Certifications :
- DLP Certifications : Symantec and Forcepoint DLP Certifications.
- Microsoft Certifications : Microsoft Certified : Information Protection Administrator Associate (SC-400), Azure Security, or Microsoft 365 Security certifications.
- Industry Certifications : Certifications such as CIPT (Certified Information Privacy Technologist), CIPP (Certified Information Privacy Professional), CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), or equivalent.
