Role Overview :

As the Associate Director of Engineering, you will lead a talented team of backend developers and drive the design, development, and deployment of scalable and secure backend systems. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and people management.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of backend engineers.

- Design, develop, test, and maintain robust backend applications using Python (Django, FastAPI, or Flask).

- Architect and implement scalable microservices and RESTful APIs integrated with front-end and hardware

components.

- Ensure system scalability, performance optimization, and high availability across distributed systems.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Frontend, DevOps, QA, Product) to deliver reliable solutions.

- Drive best practices in coding standards, testing, CI/CD, and security.

- Manage technical debt and guide architectural decisions for long-term success.

- Own the backend infrastructure including containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud deployment (AWS/Azure/GCP).

- Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth2.0, JWT, etc.).

- Oversee the maintenance and evolution of database systems (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis).

- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex production issues.

Required Skills & Qualifications :


- 12+ years of backend development experience using Python and related frameworks (Django, Flask, FastAPI).

- Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and project delivery.

- Strong expertise in building and scaling RESTful APIs and microservices.

- Deep understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, including ORM tools.

- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and container orchestration using Kubernetes.

- Familiarity with message queues/brokers such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.

- Solid understanding of security best practices, authentication, and data protection.

- Proficient with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.

- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

Preferred/Good to Have :

- Experience with GraphQL APIs.

- Knowledge of Celery for asynchronous task processing.

- Exposure to AI/ML frameworks or pipelines.

- Background in AR/VR or spatial computing domains.
