Job Title: General Manager (GM) - Quality Department


Location: Vadodara


Reporting To: Director & Plant Head

Job Summary: The General Manager of the Quality Department will lead all quality assurance and quality control activities for our solar module manufacturing operations. This position is critical for ensuring that our products meet the highest industry standards and comply with all relevant certifications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in quality management, product innovation, and a deep understanding of the solar industry.


Key Responsibilities:

1.           Quality Management Systems (QMS):

•             Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System in accordance with ISO standards and company policies.

•             Ensure regular reviews and updates of QMS documentation to reflect changes in processes and industry standards.

2.           Certifications and Compliance:

•             Manage all certification processes including BIS, IEC, ISO, ALMM, and other relevant industry certifications.

•             Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations and standards.

3.           Vendor Evaluation and Management:

•             Conduct thorough evaluations of new and existing vendors to ensure they meet quality standards.

•             Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure consistent quality of raw materials.

4.           Raw Material Testing and Evaluation:

•             Oversee the testing and evaluation of raw materials to ensure they meet required specifications.

•             Implement processes for continuous monitoring and improvement of material quality.

5.           Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) for Module Testing:

•             Develop and implement QC and QA procedures for module testing, ensuring all products meet quality standards before shipment.

•             Regularly review and improve testing protocols to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

6.           Lab Setup and Testing:

•             Establish and maintain state-of-the-art testing laboratories for product validation and certification.

•             Ensure all testing equipment is calibrated and maintained according to industry standards.

7.           Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):

•             Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs for all quality-related processes.

•             Train staff on SOPs and ensure adherence to established procedures.

8.           Process Management:

•             Oversee the entire manufacturing process to ensure compliance with quality standards.

•             Implement process improvements to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.

9.           Product Innovation and New Technology:

•             Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in solar technology and quality norms.

•             Implement new technologies and innovations to improve product quality and performance.

10.        Customer Focus:

•             Work closely with the sales and customer service teams to address and resolve customer complaints and quality issues.

•             Ensure customer requirements and feedback are incorporated into the quality management system.

11.        Reporting and Analysis:

•             Prepare and present quality reports to senior management, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs), trends, and areas of concern.

•             Utilize data analysis to drive decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.

12.        Health and Safety:

•             Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the quality department.


Key Result Areas (KRAs):

1.           QMS Effectiveness:

•             Successful implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System.

•             Regular updates and improvements to QMS documentation and processes.

2.           Product Quality:

•             Achievement of quality targets for solar modules, measured by defect rates, customer complaints, and return rates.

•             Reduction in non-conformance incidents through effective quality control measures.

3.           Process Efficiency:

•             Implementation of process improvements leading to measurable gains in production efficiency and quality.

•             Reduction in production waste and rework costs.

4.           Team Performance:

•             Development and retention of a high-performing quality assurance team.

•             Regular training and development programs conducted for staff.

5.           Customer Satisfaction:

•             High levels of customer satisfaction with minimal complaints related to product quality.

•             Timely and effective resolution of any quality issues reported by customers.

6.           Compliance and Audit Success:

•             Successful completion of internal and external audits with minimal non-conformities.

•             Consistent compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

7.           Supplier Quality:

•             High-quality standards maintained for all suppliers.

•             Regular supplier assessments and improvements based on audit results.

8.           Innovation and Technology Integration:

•             Successful integration of new technologies and innovations to enhance product quality.

•             Regular updates on industry trends and adoption of best practices.


Qualifications:

•             Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

•             Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality management within the manufacturing sector, preferably in solar or related industries.

•             Strong knowledge of quality standards and Certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, IEC, UL, CE, CEC, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma

•             Proven track record of leading quality improvement initiatives and managing a quality assurance team.

•             Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

•             Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
