Job Title: Microsoft Purview SpecialistExperience: 12+ yearsLocation: RemoteEmployment Type: ContractRole Overview:We are looking for an experienced Microsoft Purview Specialist with deep expertise in data governance, compliance, and information protection. The ideal candidate will design, implement, and manage Microsoft Purview solutions to ensure data security, compliance, and effective information lifecycle management across the organization.Key Responsibilities:Lead the implementation and administration of Microsoft Purview (formerly Azure Purview) for enterprise-wide data governance and compliance.Develop and manage data classification, cataloging, lineage, and sensitivity labels using Purview tools.Manage, Train and Lead the team members.Configure Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection, and Data Lifecycle Management policies.Collaborate with security, compliance, and IT teams to align Purview governance models with business requirements.Integrate Purview with Microsoft 365 Compliance Center, Azure Information Protection, and Microsoft Defender for Cloud.Design and maintain data inventory, data scanning, and policy-based controls for structured and unstructured data sources (on-prem, cloud, hybrid).Conduct periodic audits and risk assessments to ensure adherence to data governance frameworks and regulatory compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001, etc.).Create detailed documentation, dashboards, and reports on data governance performance and compliance posture.Stay current with Microsoft’s evolving Purview and M365 compliance suite capabilities and recommend continuous improvements.Required Skills & Experience:12+ years of total IT experience with minimum 5+ years in Microsoft Purview / M365 Compliance / Information Protection.Strong hands-on experience in:Microsoft Purview Data Map, Data Catalog, and Data InsightsSensitivity labels, DLP, retention, and eDiscovery policiesData classification and governance frameworksMicrosoft Information Protection (MIP) and Microsoft 365 Security & Compliance CenterGood understanding of data privacy laws and regulatory frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, ISO 27001, SOC2).Experience with Azure AD, Defender for Cloud Apps, and integration with Power BI or Azure Synapse is a plus.Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.Educational Qualification:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (Master’s preferred).
