The Director of the School of Behavioural and Allied Sciences is a senior leadership role responsible for providing strategic direction, administrative oversight, and academic leadership for the School. The Director will work closely with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders to advance the School's mission, enhance its academic programs and foster research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the School that aligns with the university's overall goals and priorities.
    • Foster an environment of academic excellence, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

2.Academic and Administrative Oversight:

  • Oversee the administration of academic programs, including curriculum development, accreditation, and assessment.
  • Ensure the effective management of faculty and staff, including recruitment, retention, and professional development.
  • Manage the School's budget, including allocation of resources and financial planning.

3.Faculty and Staff Development:

  • Support and encourage faculty research, scholarship, and professional development.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration and mutual respect among faculty and staff.
  • Implement strategies for faculty recruitment, retention, and promotion.

4.Student Engagement:

  • Enhance the student experience by promoting high-quality academic advising, mentoring, and career development opportunities.
  • Support student-centered initiatives and programs that contribute to student success and retention.
  • Address student concerns and provide leadership in resolving issues.

5.Research and Scholarship:

  • Encourage and support research and scholarly activities within the School.
  • Facilitate partnerships and collaborations with external organizations, agencies, and other academic institutions.
  • Promote grant writing and secure funding for research initiatives.

6.Compliance and Accreditation:

  • Ensure compliance with university policies, state and accreditation standards.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of accreditation reports and other required documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D in Psychology/Clinical Psychology or relevant field related to behavioral sciences, with a distinguished record of scholarship and research.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in academic leadership roles, including experience as a department chair or similar position.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, budget management, and faculty development.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build consensus and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with accreditation processes and maintaining academic standards.
