Database Administrator

About the Role :We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our growing team.This critical role will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and performance optimization of our SQL Server databases, with a specific focus on supporting our Intelligent Traffic Management Systems (ITMS).You will play a key part in ensuring the availability, security, and integrity of the data that drives our ITMS solutions.This role requires a deep understanding of SQL Server administration, performance tuning, and security best practices, as well as experience with handling large datasets and real-time data Responsibilities Administration :- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases (including but not limited to the latest versions) in production, development, testing, and staging environments.- Manage database objects (tables, views, stored procedures, functions, triggers, etc.- Monitor database health and performance, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues.- Implement and manage database replication and high availability solutions (e.g, AlwaysOn Availability Groups, mirroring).- Perform database upgrades and patching.- Automate routine DBA tasks using scripting (e.g , PowerShell, T-SQL).- Manage database storage and capacity Tuning :- Analyze database performance bottlenecks and optimize query execution plans.- Implement effective indexing strategies.- Monitor and tune database server resources (CPU, memory, I/O).- Conduct performance testing and benchmarking.- Identify and resolve long-running queries and & Recovery :- Develop and implement comprehensive backup and recovery strategies.- Perform regular database backups and restores.- Test and validate backup and recovery procedures to ensure business continuity.- Implement and manage disaster recovery Data Handling :- Design and optimize databases to support the specific requirements of ITMS, including real-time data ingestion, processing, and storage.- Manage and optimize databases for traffic management systems, including handling large volumes of data from various sources (e.g , sensors, cameras).- Develop and maintain data integration processes between different systems.- Ensure data quality and integrity within the ITMS database environment.- Experience with time-series data and related database optimization techniques is a & Compliance :- Implement and enforce database security policies and procedures.- Manage user accounts, permissions, and roles.- Implement data encryption at rest and in transit.- Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.- Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and data privacy & Communication :- Work closely with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure optimal database performance and availability.- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.- Participate in on-call rotation for database support.- Document database configurations, procedures, and best :- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.- Proven experience as a SQL Database Administrator (5+ years preferred).- Extensive knowledge of SQL Server architecture, administration, and performance tuning.- Experience with ITMS or similar real-time data-intensive systems is highly desirable.- Strong understanding of database security best practices.- Experience with database backup and recovery strategies.- Proficiency in T-SQL and scripting languages (e.g, PowerShell).- Experience with database monitoring and performance analysis tools.- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.- Strong communication and collaboration skills.- Microsoft SQL Server certifications (e.g , MCSA, MCSE) are a plus (ref:hirist.tech)
