Position Overview:

A Fabric Sourcing Specialist is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and securing high-quality fabrics from suppliers and manufacturers to meet the needs of a fashion brand, textile company, or retailer. The specialist will work closely with the mills and buyers and other internal stakeholders to ensure the timely procurement of materials, maintain cost-efficiency, and ensure that fabrics meet the desired quality, sustainability, and aesthetic standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Sourcing Fabrics:
  • Identify and establish relationships with fabric suppliers, mills, and manufacturers both locally and Bangladesh, Pakistan 
  • Research and stay updated on global fabric trends, new material developments, and innovations in sustainable and eco-friendly textiles.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement.
  • Manage sample requests, and approvals, and evaluate fabric swatches for quality, texture, weight, and color accuracy.
  1. Supplier Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with fabric suppliers to ensure consistent quality and on-time deliveries.
  • Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, lead times, pricing, and reliability.
  • Visit mills, factories, and trade shows to source new fabrics and develop relationships with new suppliers.
  1. Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure that all sourced fabrics meet the required quality standards, including durability, colorfastness, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with quality control teams to inspect and approve fabric shipments.
  • Address and resolve quality issues or defects with suppliers in a timely manner.
  1. Sustainability and Compliance:
  • Ensure all fabrics are sourced ethically, adhering to the company's sustainability standards and certifications (e.g., GOTS, OEKO-TEX).
  • Source eco-friendly, organic, or recycled fabrics in line with the company's sustainability initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards across all sourced materials.
  1. Logistics and Inventory Management:
  • Coordinate with the logistics and supply chain teams to ensure timely delivery of fabric orders.
  • Monitor stock levels of key fabrics to ensure no disruptions in production.
  • Oversee the import/export process and manage any customs or regulatory requirements for fabric shipments.
  1. Testing
  • Assist in fabric testing for functionality, such as stretch, drape, and washability, to ensure that fabrics meet product design specifications.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Fashion Design, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5-8 years of experience in fabric sourcing, textile buying, or a similar role in the fashion or textile industry.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of different types of fabrics, weaving techniques, textile production processes, and fabric finishing techniques.
  • Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to negotiate with suppliers for the best prices, lead times, and terms.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong ability to evaluate fabric quality, color, texture, and weight with an eye for detail.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with fabric testing, quality control processes, and international trade regulations.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to visit suppliers, mills, and trade shows.
