Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Landscape Architect to join our team at AVF, a leading firm in sustainable eco-conservation. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing and implementing landscape projects that promote environmental sustainability, conservation, and ecological balance. This role involves working on a diverse range of projects, from natural reserves and community parks to urban green spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Planning: Develop comprehensive landscape designs that integrate sustainable practices and conservation principles. Create detailed plans, drawings, and visualizations that address ecological needs and enhance environmental quality.
  • Site Analysis: Conduct site assessments to understand existing conditions, including soil quality, vegetation, topography, and hydrology. Use this information to inform design decisions and ensure ecological compatibility.
  • Project Coordination: Oversee landscape architecture projects from initial concept through to completion. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring alignment with sustainability goals and client expectations. Develop, check and coordinate technical aspects of the design of a project.
  • Sustainability Integration: Incorporate eco-friendly materials, native plants, water management systems, and energy-efficient solutions into designs. Promote practices that reduce environmental impact and support biodiversity.
  • Client and Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with clients, community members, and stakeholders to gather input and address concerns. Present design proposals and advocate for sustainable solutions that align with project goals.
  • Collaboration: Work with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, urban planners, engineers, and environmental scientists. Coordinate efforts to ensure cohesive and effective project outcomes.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure designs comply with local regulations, zoning laws, and environmental standards. Prepare documentation required for permits and approvals.
  • Research and Innovation: Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in landscape architecture and eco-conservation. Apply innovative approaches to enhance sustainability and ecological impact.
  • Site Supervision: Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress, ensure adherence to design specifications, and address any issues that arise during implementation.
  • Design Documentation: Prepare detailed design drawings, models, and relevant documentation for client meetings, public consultations, and regulatory approvals. Prepare and deliver presentations for public / govt. and institutional sector clients.
  • Sustainability: Incorporate sustainable design principles and practices into projects to promote environmental stewardship and resilience.
  • Feasibility Studies: Preparing Feasibility Studies, Market Studies for economic analysis. Work on preparation of maps- context analysis, constraint and opportunity mapping, physical site planning, etc. to support proposals/bids. Responsible for writing proposals for public RFPs.
  • Ability to travel off site and flexibility with changing priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Education: B.Arch and M.Arch – Landscape Architecture from an accredited School of Architecture and/or Planning in India
  • Certifications: Any relevant certifications, e.g., AICP, LEED AP, etc., is preferred
  • Registered with the Council of Architecture, India.
  • Experience: Total 5-8 years of experience, of which 2-3 years relevant experience (preferably after masters) in landscape architecture with a focus on sustainable design and eco-conservation. Experience with Biodiversity Parks, Zoological Parks, Wetlands conservation, waterfront development, or similar projects is a plus.
  • Skills:

o Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, or similar tools.

o Experience with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and other spatial analysis tools.

o Strong knowledge of sustainable landscape practices, native plant species, and eco-friendly materials.

o Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

o Knowledge of sustainable design practices and green infrastructure.

o Deep commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability.

o Creative and innovative thinking with a focus on ecological impact.

o Familiarity with community engagement strategies and public consultation processes.

o Excellent visual and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex design concepts clearly.

o Should have good skills creating visuals, infographics, diagrams, illustrations to support on branding and marketing efforts.

o Coordinate and prepare technical drawings (mostly production work) and report writing skills for projects including research, data collection, documentation, compilation and analysis, GIS mapping support, concept layouts, detailed master plans, accessibility plans and plotting plans.

o Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Able to understand and adopt workflows and commitment to personal and professional development.

o Flexible attitude to accepting different work assignments from varying fields and pro-active attitude to learning new skills, and towards execution / delivery.

o Will need a strong blend of creativity, technical skills, and an understanding of urban systems to effectively contribute to the development and enhancement of urban environment
