Analytics at Porter

• Data & Analytics Team at Porter is a robust team of 60+ analysts who work very closely with Business & Product Team across the entire organization
• The objective that the Analytics Team works with is to leverage the capabilities of data analytics to come up with actionable insights for improving & optimizing various aspects of the business & product
• Our data stack includes tools like Snowflake Datalake & Warehouse, Python Programming, Metabase & Streamlit for Data Visualization, DBT for data modelling & transformation, Mixpanel for Product Analytics, 5x & Snowpark for Scripting Automations, Monte Carlo for Data Quality Observability

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Mentoring

1. Lead a team of 3-5 analysts in order to drive the business & product initiatives
2. Ability to mentor junior analysts and groom them aligned with their career & skills growth & development

Stakeholder & Project Management

1. Own up the role of being the primary analytics point of contact for 2-3 business/product tracks
2. Ensure planning of roadmap, initiatives, sprints is done effectively
3. Communication & adherence of timelines for various Analytics Projects

Business Problem Identification

1. Brainstorming with stakeholders around key problems which move organization's core metrics
2. Identify trends & opportunities from the backend data which could lead to optimization or growth in business, benchmarking against industry standards

Analytics Solution Design & Implementation

1. Enable project & tasks' breakdown for team members
2. Review the analytics deliverables by analytics team members
3. Designing the Analytics Solutions for complex and long term projects, this may include Machine-Learning/AI based solutions

Driving Business Impact Projects

1. Identify key business metrics driving projects, assess analytics feasibility, assist in data collection
2. Hands-On implementation of analytics solution/algorithm/models and enable a phase-wise rollout

Enabling Analytics Best Practices

1. Be the flag-bearer of industry best practices for Analytics Teams, including Documentation, Data Visualization, Data Modelling, Query Writing, Python Coding, Project Planning etc

Technical Skills & Qualification Criteria

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in an Engineering, Mathematics or Statistics background
• 5-8 years of full-time experience working as a Data & Analytics professional
• Advanced proficiency in ANSI or Standard SQL (at least one version like MySQL or HiveQL or PostgreSQL)
• Strong fundamental skills on Python, e.g. EDA, data analysis, automations, debugging, Statistical/ML model building is a must-have
• Strong understanding of customer facing products, funnel optimization, A/B Experiment Setup & Evaluation
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
• Understanding of Modern Data & Database Architecture & Stack and able to grasp concepts like partitioning, data-warehousing, reproducible data-modelling etc
