We’re looking for a dynamic Menswear Designer cum Merchandiser with a strong background in Formalwear — suits, blazers, trousers and shirts.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Development
• Create innovative yet timeless designs for suits, blazers, and shirts in line with luxury menswear aesthetics.
• Develop seasonal collections and bespoke pieces, balancing creativity with customer preferences.
• Collaborate with master tailors, pattern-makers, and vendors to ensure precision in cut, fit, and finishing.
Merchandising & Product Management
• Research fabrics, trims, and accessories; curate swatch books for seasonal collections.
• Plan and execute merchandise assortment strategies, ensuring a balance of design innovation and commercial viability.
• Analyse market trends, customer preferences, and competitor activity to inform design and merchandising decisions.
• Support pricing, costing, and margin planning in coordination with the business team.
Fabric & Process Knowledge
• Deep understanding of menswear fabrics and luxury suitings.
• Awareness of interlinings, canvassing, and tailoring techniques.
• Knowledge of bespoke and MTM workflow — from measurement to fittings to delivery.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with stores for client consultations and trunk shows.
• Assist in visual merchandising, styling shoots, and store displays.
• Work closely with marketing on storytelling around collections and bespoke experiences.
Qualifications & Skills
• Degree/Diploma in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or Apparel Merchandising from a recognised design institute (NIFT, Pearl, Parsons, etc.).
• 3–4 years of hands-on experience in menswear design and merchandising, with exposure to formalwear (suits, blazers, shirts).
• Prior experience working with formal menswear brands and manufacturing setups.
• Strong knowledge of tailoring, fit, garment construction, and bespoke/MtM processes.
• Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint, and Excel for creating moodboards, presentations, specs, and tech packs.
• Ability to manage the end-to-end product lifecycle from concept to final sample.
• Strong communication and presentation skills to liaise with internal teams, vendors, and clients.
• A business-oriented mindset with a clear understanding of luxury customer expectations.
