Job Description :


As a Backup Administrator, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our backup and recovery infrastructure. You will work closely with IT operations teams, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure data protection, integrity, and availability.

Your role will involve implementing backup policies, monitoring backups, troubleshooting issues, and performing recovery operations.

Key Responsibilities :

- Backup Infrastructure Design : Design and implement backup and recovery solutions to meet the organization's data protection and recovery objectives.

- Backup Policies : Develop and implement backup policies and procedures to ensure data integrity, retention, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

- Backup Implementation : Configure and deploy backup software and hardware solutions, including tape libraries, disk-based backups, and cloud-based backups.

- Backup Monitoring : Monitor backup jobs, verify data integrity, and troubleshoot backup failures to ensure successful backups.

- Disaster Recovery Planning : Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures.

- Test backup and recovery processes regularly to validate their effectiveness.

- Backup Performance Optimization : Optimize backup schedules, configurations, and storage utilization to improve backup performance and efficiency.

- Backup Reporting : Generate and analyze backup reports to track backup success rates, storage usage, and compliance with backup policies.

- Backup Security : Implement security measures to protect backup data from unauthorized access, theft, or tampering.

- Documentation : Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for backup configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

- Collaboration : Work closely with IT operations teams, system administrators, and application owners to ensure backup and recovery requirements are met.

- Training and Knowledge Sharing : Provide training and guidance to IT staff on backup and recovery best practices and procedures.

Qualifications :

Education : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience : 3 to 6 years of experience in backup administration or related roles.

Technical Skills :

- Proficiency in backup and recovery software solutions such as Veritas NetBackup, Veeam Backup & Replication, Commvault, or similar.

- Experience with backup storage technologies, including tape libraries, disk-based storage, and cloud storage solutions.

- Knowledge of backup strategies and methodologies, including full, incremental, and differential backups.

- Familiarity with disaster recovery planning and execution.

- Understanding of backup security best practices, encryption, and access controls.

- Experience with backup monitoring and reporting tools.

- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and backup solutions for virtual environments.

Soft Skills :

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
