MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead the design and implementation of cloud adoption strategies across the organization, helping teams transition to cloud-native architectures and services.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders, including architecture, security, and business teams, to define and execute the cloud adoption roadmap.
  • Establish best practices for cloud services adoption, migration, and management, ensuring that teams can leverage cloud technologies effectively.
  • Develop, extend, and maintain the Backstage developer portal to improve internal development processes and enhance collaboration across engineering teams.
  • Build custom Backstage plugins and integrate third-party services, including CI/CD tools, cloud platforms, and internal applications, to streamline workflows.
  • Ensure the Backstage platform is highly available, scalable, and aligned with cloud-native principles.
  • Architect, deploy, and manage infrastructure using Terraform and other IaC tools to automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Develop and maintain reusable Terraform modules to ensure consistent and scalable infrastructure deployment.
  • Automate cloud operations and infrastructure configurations using YAML and JSON for seamless integration and configuration management.
  • Develop backend systems, scripts, and tools using Python and C# to improve cloud infrastructure and Backstage functionality.
  • Implement automation and operational tools that enhance the reliability, security, and performance of cloud-native applications and services.
  • Work closely with DevOps engineers to integrate cloud infrastructure management into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Ansible, Dynatrace to automate deployment and management of infrastructure.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and post-mortem investigations after incidents to identify improvements and avoid recurrence.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams during the post-deployment phase to ensure smooth rollouts and address any production issues.
  • Work alongside software engineers to design, deploy, and scale applications that are highly available, resilient, and fault tolerant.
  • Provide guidance and support in ensuring that code is written with an operational mindset, enabling easy deployment, monitoring, and debugging.
  • Act as a bridge between development, operations, and business teams, ensuring that infrastructure and software align with business goals.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure and/or GCP
    • Proficiency in using SLDC tools like AzureDevOps/JIRA
    • Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), with a strong understanding of cloud-native services and architectures.
    • Backstage Development: Strong experience in developing and enhancing the Backstage developer portal, including building custom plugins, integrating third-party tools, and improving developer workflows.
    • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Expertise in Terraform for cloud infrastructure management and automation; experience with CloudFormation or other IaC tools is a plus.
    • Programming/Scripting: Strong programming skills in Python and C# for backend development, scripting, and automation tasks.
    • Configuration Management: Proficiency in working with YAML and JSON for cloud resource configuration, Kubernetes manifests, and other infrastructure management tasks.
    • Cloud Security: In-depth knowledge of cloud security principles and tools (e.g., IAM, encryption, network security) to ensure secure cloud operations.
    • CI/CD: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or similar platforms for continuous integration and delivery.
    • Version Control & CI/CD: Expertise with Git, Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab CI, or similar CI/CD platforms.
    • Database Management: Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
      • Strong analytical and problem–solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail
      • Ability to thrive in a fast–paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
      • Proactive attitude towards learning new technologies and industry trends
