We are looking for a Sr. Technical Writer I (Customer Documentation) in our HCL DevOps Velocity Product team with 4+ years of experience who possess the following skills:

  • Research, write, and finalize technical product documentation for enterprise software.
  • Build and publish end-user documentation for product releases.
  • Create clear and concise technical content for end users.
  • Plan, estimate, and deliver the work allocated on time.
  • Work closely with Development, QA, Product Management, and Technical Support teams.
  • Create high-quality documentation by adhering to the standard writing guidelines and ensure that the documents are easily readable, technically accurate, and complete.
  • Work with a good knowledge of XML-based authoring tools.
  • Create content by using DITA methodology and apply the prescribed word usage guidelines.
  • Create short and appealing videos that demonstrate product features, how-to procedures, and write blogs in public forums.
  • Create additional product information in form of digital content suitable for tutorials, training, marketing, webinars, blogging, and conference presentations.
  • Use technical design specifications and product prototypes to develop high-quality user documentation; provide user-oriented feedback to developers.
  • Rebrand, reformat and rewrite existing documents for new purposes and markets.
  • Knowledge of style guides such as the Chicago Manual of Style, IBM Style, or Microsoft Style is an advantage.
  • Report issues with the product as you use it to develop the user documentation.

Exposure to the translation cycles is a plus.

Highly desirable skills:

  • DITA XML (in particular, topic-based authoring)
  • XML/SGML editor such as Oxygen, Arbortext, DITA Open Toolkit, or FrameMaker.
  • Capability to produce engaging and informative how-to videos.
  • Basic programming or scripting skills (to automate repetitive tasks).
  • IBM documentation style and Information Development.
  • Agile development practices.
  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
