Full job description

This position is for a Dispatcher at a food delivery service. The duties and responsibilities can be summarized as follows:


Scheduling and Preparation:

Maintain clear schedules for all drivers and dispatchers.

Utilize tools like Google Drive to share schedules with the team.

Update schedules daily and communicate changes promptly.

Confirm driver schedules for the current and next day, as well as for specific shifts like lunch and dinner.

Pay special attention to catering and advance orders, ensuring reliable drivers are assigned.

Stay informed about daily weather conditions and American holidays that may impact business.


Communication:

Efficiently communicate within the team, addressing problems and requests.

Ensure drivers are properly trained before their shifts.

Log and follow up on canceled orders, maintaining communication with the client.

Regularly communicate with drivers, understanding their strengths and weaknesses.

Communicate with restaurants and customers to address emergencies, delays, and canceled orders, emphasizing professionalism.


Dispatching Orders:

Respond to restaurant orders quickly.

Plan for all scheduled orders in advance.

Prioritize orders based on their time of receipt and drivers' locations.

Dispatch drivers in the most efficient way, considering their proximity to restaurants and the direction of orders.


Dispatching Drivers:

Assign orders based on driver performance, prioritizing full-time drivers with good track records.

Consider the number of orders each driver can handle and aim for timely deliveries.

Ensure that lunch drivers are punched in and in their designated areas when the shift begins.

Maintain a balance of drivers in different areas, avoiding shortages or surpluses.


Training Drivers:

Familiarize yourself with the app's functions and training materials in Google Drive.

Ensure that drivers provide necessary documents (driver's license, car insurance) and complete training before starting work.

Know your drivers' strengths and weaknesses to assign orders accordingly.


Phone Etiquette:

Handle emergency and non-emergency calls without missing any.

Record important information from calls.

Prioritize calls based on their importance and urgency.


Monitoring Team:

Set up and maintain cameras or webcams that can be monitored by the client.

Require all employees to have a laptop/desktop and a WhatsApp phone account for communication.

Enforce punctuality and dedication among team members.

Emphasize constant communication with restaurants and drivers via phone calls or text messages.
