Job Opportunity: SolarWinds Orion Specialist

Contract Duration: 6 months

Day Rate: £200 - £250 per day

Working Hours: To be confirmed, working with UK-based teams

We are seeking a skilled SolarWinds Orion Specialist to join our team on a 6-month contract. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the administration, project support, and daily operation of the SolarWinds Orion platform, ensuring optimal system health and service configuration. This role is crucial for maintaining system integrity, proactive monitoring, and providing technical expertise to support operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Platform Administration:
• Manage the SolarWinds Orion platform, including access, permissions, and system/service configurations.
• Ensure timely patching and maintenance of the SolarWinds Orion platform on a quarterly basis.
• Monitoring & Alerts:
• Create and manage basic and enhanced alert conditions for infrastructure and services.
• Gather requirements to configure application monitoring.
• Proactively monitor and acknowledge alerts, performing trend analysis and identifying alert patterns.
• Ensure new servers/applications are onboarded and monitoring requirements are met in adherence to global standards.
• Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution:
• Resolve SolarWinds-related issues and escalate to vendor/principal support when required.
• Conduct daily checks on system health, compliance, and security.
• Reporting & Dashboards:
• Create service dashboards to visualize the status of the technology stack.
• Generate service-based reporting metrics for alert activity.
• Documentation & Training:
• Produce and maintain operation runbooks and knowledge base documents for SolarWinds activities.
• Provide training to wider teams as required.
• Continuous Improvement:
• Identify opportunities to reduce operational risks, optimize efficiency, and improve standards.

Qualifications & Skills

• Proven experience in managing and maintaining the SolarWinds Orion platform.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to create effective monitoring solutions and actionable reporting metrics.
• Experience in producing technical documentation and delivering team training.
• A proactive approach to identifying trends and implementing continuous improvements.
