Job Title: Application Lead — SAP MM (Materials Management)

Location: Hyderabad, Bangalore & Pune

Experience: Minimum 7.5 years (strong, hands-on SAP MM experience)

Role Summary

As an Application Lead — SAP MM, you will lead the design, build and configuration of SAP-based solutions for Materials Management. You will act as the primary point of contact for SAP MM within the program, collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions. You will drive delivery, mentor team members, and ensure alignment to SAP best practices and supply chain objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for SAP MM — lead functional design, configuration, testing and rollout activities.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders (Procurement, Inventory, Planning, Finance) to gather requirements and propose fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Lead and manage a team of SAP functional/technical resources — assign tasks, review work, and make team decisions to ensure successful delivery.
  • Provide end-to-end integration oversight for SAP MM with other SAP modules (e.g., SD, FI/CO, WM/EWM, PM) and third-party systems.
  • Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications and configuration documents.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues; provide root-cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
  • Drive process improvements, knowledge transfer and conduct training sessions for internal teams and business users.
  • Monitor project milestones, manage risks and dependencies, and implement corrective actions to meet timelines and quality targets.
  • Maintain adherence to SAP best practices, governance, change control and documentation standards.

Professional & Technical Skills

Must-Have

  • Strong SAP MM (Materials Management) hands-on experience (minimum 7.5 years).
  • Deep understanding of supply chain processes: procurement, inventory management, goods receipt, GR/IR, valuation, and physical inventory.
  • Experience with SAP MM configuration (master data, purchasing, inventory transactions, pricing, valuation classes).
  • Proven experience integrating SAP MM with other SAP modules (SD, FI/CO) and middleware or external systems.
  • Ability to analyze business requirements, produce clear functional specifications and design configuration solutions.
  • Solid experience in testing (unit, integration, UAT) and supporting cutover activities during implementations or upgrades.
  • Strong communication skills — able to engage with stakeholders at all levels and present technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience mentoring/junior team members and facilitating training sessions.

Good-to-Have

  • Exposure to SAP S/4HANA conversion or greenfield implementations.
  • Knowledge of SAP WM/EWM, MRP, SRM or Ariba integrations.
  • Experience with transport management, change control and release management processes.
  • Familiarity with agile delivery methodologies and tools (JIRA, Confluence).
  • Basic understanding of ABAP/technical objects to work closely with developers.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 7.5 years of professional experience with strong, demonstrable SAP MM expertise.
  • Proven track record of leading SAP MM deliveries (implementation, rollouts or support).
  • Experience working in cross-functional enterprise environments and collaborating with upstream/downstream teams.
