We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build the network that powers the world’s largest online services. For this position, the candidate should be familiar with network protocols, network devices including network interface cards, switches, and routers. You should feel comfortable working with large-scale distributed systems, in managing the network infrastructure that supports the Azure Cloud infrastructure as well as in designing and building the large-scale distributed systems that manage the network.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

2+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.OR related field AND 2+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automationOR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology,OR related field. 2-3 years of experience in the networking Industry or large-scale data center network.Experience in Deploying/Operating DCI and Long-haul Optical networks in heterogenous environmentIn depth understanding of signal propagation and impairments in Optical fiber and various fiber types, transceiver hardware used at Client and Line end of transmission equipmentKnowledge of DWDM and various modulation techniques used for transporting high speed client demands such as 100GE,400GE and beyond on Coherent and PAM4Good understanding of Optical Control Plane, Optical feedback loops, Optical network health parameters (e.g. OSNR, BER, Q-factor etc), L0/L1 protection schemes used in Optical transportBasic and integration knowledge of L2 and L3 protocols such as Ethernet, IP, MPLS, RSVP, LACP, Etc.Implement modern telemetry and drive a standardized schema for event/alarms and pms in multi-vendor environmentCollaborate across functional teams to identify opportunities and establish technical requirements for current and future Optical transport systems.Experience in one or more programming languages: C++, Java, Python, Perl.Experience in understanding and authoring machine-readable formats like XML, JSON.Excellent communication skills and team player with ability to build solid relationships at all levels, across teams, geographies, and business functions.Experience in solving broad business problems and analytical skills.Excellent judgment, decision-making skills, and the ability to work under continual deadline pressure when the situation is ambiguous.Automation mindset and hands on experience in developing network automation in any programming language.

These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with internal business units and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions efficiently from design to implementation. Automate repetitive tasks to reduce implementation time and minimize human error, solving network problems at cloud scale with an automation mindset. Participate in on-call rotations for network incident support, using software-enabled tools to quickly mitigate impact and restore service availability. Troubleshoot live site issues with minimal disruption, validate network devices, identify and locate necessary data, and guide data center teams on hardware maintenance. Evangelize best practices in network engineering across teams and contribute to postmortem and root-cause analysis to improve reliability. Share timely, audience-tailored information across disciplines and provide feedback and mentorship while actively seeking the same from peers. Demonstrate strong knowledge of network standards and automation, ensuring efficient project execution and continuous improvement.
