Commodity Buying Manager


Role & Responsibilities:

To enable commodity procurement planning, procurement, quality assurance, through excellence in spread to buying, backward integration, logistics efficiencies, by leading:

- Procurement - Procurement to ensure SLA agreements.

- Position building - To enhance time and procurement efficiencies.

- Vendor Development & On ground extension activities - In new and existing areas to increase share of buying and drive value enhancement.

- Value Chain analysis - To improve on buying efficiencies.

- Compliance framework

- Strategic category Management

- Vendor development along with on ground extension activities for change management to increase Organization's share of buying in existing buying catchment areas. Also expand catchment areas by identifying and actioning new areas.

- Enabling Procurement to ensure Material availability to internal customers of planned & unplanned demand as per desired inventory norms set by organization.

- Ensuring Business Continuity through Value chain dominance (upstream sourcing, disintermediation), Supply Risk mitigation (Alternate Vendor development, Strategic relationships) and Sustainable sourcing.

- Forecasting of supplies, demand and price basis related commodities, understanding of macroeconomic fundamentals, weather forecasts etc.,

- Effective Supplier Relationship Management to deliver organization's desired performance from Vendors through Category Supplier Management deployment, Supplier Performance management, Negotiation tools deployment (RFQ, e-auctions, offline negotiations, tendering), Contract Management & Supplier Lifecycle Management.

- Ensuring GRC in Procurement through Transaction Governance for commodities spend of around 300+ Cr in the Sourcing to Contracting & Purchase to Pay process, Risk Management through vulnerability assessment & action planning, Automation of Controls and Compliance & Commercial requirements (LC, Payment mechanisms, Incoterms, Insurance, Forex)

- Improving Transaction Productivity through redesigning the Procurement related process to improve speed, accuracy, reduce resource usage by introducing algorithmic thinking & making them touch-free.

- Talent Management through talent capability development, succession & career planning, inculcating organization's Values & Culture.

- Facilitate decision making

- Ability to leverage non reporting relationships and handle conflict.

- Ability to align and influence leadership.

- Bias for Action, Result Orientation, Opportunity seeking and Execution excellence.

- Proficiency in ERP (like SAP), MS Excel, MS Projects, Power BI and Analytical tools (like Tableau)
