Position Overview: A Primary School Teacher is responsible for providing quality education and fostering the academic, social, and emotional development of students in the primary grades (typically grades 1-5 or 1-4). This role involves planning and delivering engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and creating a supportive learning environment conducive to growth and achievement.


Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Planning and Instruction:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with the school curriculum and educational standards.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, resources, and instructional technologies to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.

Classroom Management:

  • Establish and maintain a positive and orderly classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and mutual cooperation.
  • Manage classroom routines, transitions, and behavior expectations to maximize instructional time and minimize disruptions.

Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring:

  • Assess student learning through a variety of formal and informal methods, such as quizzes, tests, projects, and observations.
  • Use assessment data to monitor student progress, identify areas of strength and weakness, and adjust instruction to meet individual needs.

Differentiated Instruction:

  • Differentiate instruction to address the diverse needs, abilities, and interests of students within the classroom.
  • Provide additional support or enrichment activities as needed to ensure all students have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Parent Communication and Collaboration:

  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with parents/guardians through regular updates, newsletters, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Collaborate with parents/guardians to support student learning and address academic, social, or behavioral concerns.

School and Community Engagement:

  • Participate in school events, committees, and extracurricular activities to support the school community and foster positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
  • Collaborate with community organizations, local businesses, and other stakeholders to enhance student learning experiences and promote community involvement in education.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's/Diploma degree in Education or a related field.
  • Knowledge of child development principles, educational theories, and pedagogical approaches appropriate for primary grade levels.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.


Working Conditions: The job may involve working with students from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as students with varying academic abilities and learning needs. Teachers may work full-time during regular school hours, with additional time required for lesson planning, grading, professional development, and extracurricular activities, 46/48 hours a week.
