Job Role:

The position of Mineral Processing / Ore-Dressing Expert for Beneficiation Plants at Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL) exists to oversee the critical processes involved in upgrading and refining raw ores to enhance the extraction of valuable metals, such as zinc, lead, and silver, through beneficiation.

Mineral Processing / Ore-Dressing Expert is responsible for improvement in plant throughput and maximizing metal recovery rates from ores during the beneficiation process and ensuring optimum efficiency in mineral concentration and minimizing metal losses in tailings. The Lead Metallurgist will play a critical role in ensuring that the concentrates produced in beneficiation meet the quality standards required for downstream processes. The Lead Metallurgist also focuses on reducing operational costs by improving efficiency in grinding and flotation processes.

In summary, the Mineral Processing / Ore-Dressing Expert for Beneficiation Plants plays a crucial role in optimizing the beneficiation process, ensuring efficient metal recovery, controlling costs, and maintaining product quality. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & WORK EXPERIENCE

Qualification - Bachelor’s degree in Ore-dressing / Mineral Processing Engineering, or a related discipline; or international equivalent. Advanced degree preferred.

Work Experience - Relevant experience in froth floatation process along with operation of various grinding mills (Ball Mill, SAG Mill etc.)

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

1. Deep knowledge of factors affecting recovery of Zinc, Lead and Silver is mandatory.
2. Knowledge of froth floatation process along with operation of various grinding mills (Ball Mill, SAG Mill etc.)
3. The candidate must be able to find out opportunities for improvement in plant throughput capacity as well as recovery of Zinc, Lead & Silver and suggest plan & implement projects to achieve the desired throughput and recovery numbers.
4. Proven track record of improving throughput and recovery at large scale.
5. Ability to conceptualize debottlenecking projects.
6. Strong technical expertise in mineral processing / ore-dressing.
7. Demonstrated ability to evaluate, implement, and manage new technologies and innovations including digital transformations, AI implementation, and Operational Excellence programs.
8. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and identify actionable insights.
9. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Diagnose throughput and recovery losses to identify and prioritize operational and capital initiatives.
2. Lead technical initiatives aimed at improving throughput and recovery rates, optimizing processes across all mining operations.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to enhance recovery efficiency.
4. Evaluate and implement new technologies, methodologies, and best practices to drive innovation and maximize recovery yields.
5. Monitor and analyze operational data to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions to improve performance.
6. Lead and mentor technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.
7. Collaborate with external partners, research institutions, and technology providers to explore opportunities for collaboration and innovation.
