Statutory Reporting Manager

Key Responsibility Areas including preferred Skills and Experience:

  • The processes involve accounting & reporting work for Insurance Domain, preferably requiring the sound understanding of
    US GAAP/STAT Reporting. The role also envisages review, preparation, and consolidation of financial reporting. Professionals would be an individual working on high-end systems and various reporting software applications like Workiva, Eagle Wings and Oracle, for meeting their monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables.
  • This position is responsible for providing subject matter expertise/ performing endtoend review of the work performed/ establishing controls/ streamlining the process and developing domain knowledge of the offshore staff.
  • Ensure endtoend operations management for Statutory Financial reporting, disclosures, Surveys, State filings etc.
  • Partnering in setting the team's strategic direction and assisting in the overall running of the team's operations
  • Ownership of processes, reports, procedures or products. Subject Matter Expert with knowledge of crossfunction processes
  • Insurance accounting regulatory reporting experience (SSAP knowledge) preferred
  • Review of critical journal entries, GAAP/STAT supplements, and Notes to accounts before submission to onshore team
  • Leadership and development of staff
  • Liaison with multiple departments (Input providers) during the close to ensure timely completion of deliverables/Collaborate for special projects
  • Support quarterly/annual audits by internal auditors, aswellas, independent external auditors
  • Participate or lead special projects, initiatives, adhoc reporting, and analysis requests
  • Understand & anticipate clients' business needs/concerns, etc. & proactively resolve the same
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to drive efficiencies and enhanced controls
  • Act as a point of escalation for any operational issues

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of Regulatory reporting concepts including accounting standards
  • Understanding of Insurance
    US GAAP & STAT Principals
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Power BI etc.)
  • ERP's such as Oracle, Wdesk, Wings etc.
  • Proficiency in English
  • Excellent Communication / interpersonal skills
  • Data gathering ability/ Eye for detail
  • Strong people management and leadership skills.
  • Capability to conduct an appraisal discussion and assess different levels of performance and potential.
  • Capability to communicate with large teams.

  • Reasonable level of business perspective regarding the internal functioning of BPO/EXL.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • CA/CPA/MBA/Post-Graduate in Finance with 8+ years of experience in Financial Accounting & Reporting (GAAP & STAT Reporting)
  • Must have an experience of handling team size of approximately 810 people
  • Knowledge of Regulatory reporting, technical accounting principles and STAT reporting requirements
  • Capable of working with tight deadlines and lead closure of reporting timelines
  • Effectively balance quality, timeliness and accuracy standards
  • Identify and implement enhancements and efficiencies
  • Experience with financial reporting applications (Oracle BI, Essbase, Workiva, EagleWings)
  • Proficiency in MSexcel & MS PowerPoint
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills with strong time management, organizational and problemsolving skills and the ability to multitask and work in a deadlinedriven environment
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels across the organization
