Responsibilities

The role is responsible for managing the site and the workforce of the Mumbai Technology Center for Weatherford by coordinating efforts with the rest of RD&E and the broader Weatherford to ensure alignment and being a culture ambassador for the office as a whole. The role will be responsible for overseeing ongoing projects and delivering project commitments on time, and ensuring that duties are carried out safely and accurately. Duties include managing utilization, development, and advancement of the workforce, as well as budget and capital planning for the site.

VISION & LEADERSHIP
Lead the research, planning and implementation of new programs and protocols for the organizationAs a member of the RD&E executive team, actively participate in the management of the company including strategic planning, operations planning, and yearly plan executionProvide oversight and leadership to Managers responsible for successfully achieving RD&E projects while ensuring goals for the team are clearly understood, monitored, and achievedCoordinate and collaborate with other members of the executive team to achieve company profitability goalsProvide a framework that will allow the engineering department to develop, execute and measure departmental goalsBe a culture ambassador for WFRD by upholding and promoting adherence to the company's mission and valuesLead teams through activities that continuously improve Delivery, Quality and Cost within RDEFoster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging the team to explore new approaches, methodologies, and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
OPERATIONS
Manage and coordinate activities of engineering/manufacturing engineering departments regarding design, layout, document control, vendor qualification, material qualification, root cause investigation, and manufacturingDevelop, plan and implement department programs, goals and objectivesSupport the continuous improvement process throughout the companyTravel to global manufacturing, engineering, supplier and customer facilitiesDevelop and implement methods and procedures for monitoring projects, such as preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences, to inform management of the current status of projectsManage a team of engineers and techniciansLead the Lab facility development progress and ensure it is operating flawlessly with the right resources are in place to execute testing activitiesMeasure and evaluate engineering performanceRepresent engineering and manufacturing engineering on cross-functional teams
COMMUNICATION
Foster cooperation and communication with other engineering groups within the company to maximize the value of being a global organization and across all Weatherford functional groups to ensure flawless product/service performance and an ideal customer experienceMaintains effective communications with all key stakeholders both internal and where appropriate externalSupervisors and managers should communicate expectations, roles and responsibilities in their reports
FINANCIAL
Plan and execute the budgetPlan and execute facility capital planEnsure staffing levels are maintained in proportion to the expected business level for each organizationAll employees have an accountability to the organization to be financially responsible whether they are in charge of a function budget or simply their expensesDrive for continuous improvement in the use of company fundsUnderstand and articulate to the engineering team the financial goals of the Mumbai Technology CenterCosts incurred should be within the approved budget, processed within agreed time frames & following the relevant financial policy and procedure
PEOPLE & DEVELOPMENT
Mentor, guide and coach direct reports to expand their skills and capabilities and build expert depth within the departmentDevelop and maintain a sound organizational structure staffed with qualified personnelSet clear goals, establish performance metrics and regularly evaluate team members' performance and progressLead and motivate the direct reports efforts of engineering sites in multiple countriesManage talent decisions towards linking critical roles to the value they need to generateActively contribute to the development & delivery of key technical product line training course programs to support personnel competency & business growthWith the assistance of HR, recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions following career path requirements, transfers and disciplinary actionsEmployees have a responsibility for developing their careers within the Company including completing all necessary function, compliance & business standards training to enhance their knowledge, skills and experienceEmployees should engage regularly with their line manager to discuss their personal performance, objectives and opportunities to enhance their skills and experience to support their career potentialSupervisors are expected to actively engage their employees to support talent management through Weatherford's performance management process, including but not limited to talent assessments, succession planning & regular coaching opportunitiesSupervisors should collaborate with Human Resources & Training Development to drive strategies for the recruitment & retention of key personnel & to foster an environment that supports the attraction & retention of a high performing talented workforce

Qualifications

Experience & Education

REQUIRED
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or related field.15+ years of engineering experience.8+ years of leadership experience in a multi-discipline team, preferably consisting of engineering, software, and science staff members.Experience with all aspects of engineering in the product life-cycle, from preliminary research, through product development, portfolio expansion, sustaining and value engineering, and product replacement/retirement.Experience in planning and execution of projects.Experience in workforce and capital planning.Excellent leadership skills that will enable effective, reliable and appropriate decisions and judgments. Significant experience in effectively leading, facilitating and motivating large teamsWork effectively across a diverse multicultural multilingual mutlidisciplinary communityProven technical problem-solving abilityExcellent influence and communication skills, both verbally and in writingAbility to work well with all levels of personnelAbility to work effectively in a team-based environmentProven innovator and different thinkerKnowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Ability to develop financial plans and manage resources. PREFERRED
Master's degree (MBA) or Masters Degree in engineering or related field preferred.Prior experience with upstream oil and gas.

Travel Requirement:
This role will be based in Mumbai and require international travel of up to 25%.
