Practice Leader

Qualification:

Bachelors in engineering or equivalent

Responsibility:

COE Roadmap :

  • Create the COE plan every year based on emerging technologies.
  • Identify the roadmap for the COE.
  • Provide direction to the team in terms of the strategic areas of focus and the capability to be built.
  • Review the plans frequently to ensure alignment with market changes.

Solution Building :

  • Identify areas for research for new technologies, business platforms, etc.
  • Guide the team to review and track research sources (market surveys etc) for the area under focus.
  • Leverage research to identify new business models, service offerings etc to be built and keep in pace with the emerging trends etc.
  • In alignment with new area of focus identify investments to be made and trainings required to build capability (decision making) For new solutions driven by market gap: Review GTM solutions drawn up by the Principal Architect and provide signoff for piloting, review pilot / prototype results to identify solutions which can GTM.
  • For large scale engagement / proposals driven by client needs: Understand the clients needs.
  • Conduct gap analysis.
  • Identify the optimal solution in partnership with internal stakeholders which would address the customer requirements.
  • Guide the team and other stakeholders in presenting, detailing and packaging the solution.
  • Review estimates and pricing as shared by Principal architect and signoff on the winwin solution inclusive of price.

Technology Consulting :

  • Drive the engagement for select clients by interacting with the customers, understanding requirements, partnering with the client to identify the evaluation criteria to be used for selection.
  • Provide recommendations to the client on tools, technologies for deployment on the basis of features, cost, performance etc.

Thought Leadership :

  • Review technical papers created by the team.
  • Present papers on emerging technologies, strategic areas etc at national /international conferences and address clarifications to showcase thought leadership.
  • Only for CXO level client meetings: Participate in customer visits to showcase capabilities and share value addition to the clients.
  • Understand the clients requirements, pain points and identify the right assets to be showcased.
  • Arrange for demos and webinars if required.

Organization Capability Building :

  • Plan road shows on emerging areas of focus.
  • Review newsletters to finalize content on new solutions / service offerings.
  • Socialize new service offerings with the leadership team and the client (for technically intensive projects or first time customers) through presentations and demos.
  • Provide signoff on the new curriculum, courses based on emerging technologies as created by Sr Architects in partnership with the academy.
  • Impart Knowledge sharing sessions through webinars, seminars etc with the leadership team on the emerging areas.
  • Provide an overview of COE capabilities to laterals.
  • Driven by internal team requirements: Understand the client requirements.
  • Troubleshoot road blocks in projects, Address clarifications to ensure client requirements are met.
  • Review audit gaps across critical projects and identify steps to address them.

Alliance Management :

  • Guide Sr Architect on tools, comparative analysis and negotiation points.
  • Identify strategic partners to bring the optimal solution for the client.
  • Conduct joint sessions with vendors for specific solutions.
  • Negotiate the right partnership model with the vendor.
  • Identify mutual benefits from this partnership.
  • Lead discussions with the vendor leadership team.

Specific to QE:

Identify the synergies with vendors, assess and shortlist the vendors in order to enhance Cognizant service offerings

People Management :

  • Understand aspirations of associates, identify programs and certifications, growth areas for associates based on aspirations, project requirements Mentor associates and conduct one on one sessions to coach team members Set goals for team members and monitor performance Conduct performance appraisal for team members.
  • Organize team initiatives on a periodic basis.
