Senior R&D Engineer

Summary: Role Purpose
The Senior R&D Engineer plays a crucial role in developing software products and supporting systems within the Office of CTO. In this position, you will delve into research on Generative AI and deep learning, focusing on foundation models for physics building upon SLM or LLMs to integrate them into our local ML infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and prototype SLMs and LLMs for specific physics applications.
- Develop datasets, infrastructure, and models with broad capabilities across various aspects of physics, such as specific physics understanding, boundary conditions, and loading considerations.
- Explore deep learning techniques for numerical simulations in fields like fluids, structures, electromagnetics, optics, and electronics.
- Engage in brainstorming, planning, architecture, and research activities.
- Utilize best practices in LLM space for efficient engineering, fine-tuning, and vector dataset creation using Ansys tools.
- Collaborate with product engineering teams to implement real-time models and introduce new features.
- Design streamlined model pipelines for deploying foundation models.
- Present influential research findings and insights at esteemed conferences and journals.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, possibly taking on planning and mentoring roles.
Minimum Education, Certification, and Experience:
- BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Requisite Professional Experience: BS+5, MS+3, or PhD+1.
- 2 years of specialized experience in Deep Learning, particularly in LLMs/SLMs.
- Track record of publications or hands-on involvement in significant foundation model development, computer vision, data synthesis, knowledge distillation, and distributed system design.
- Proficiency in development with machine learning code in C++ or Python.
- Expertise in C++ or Python, with a deep focus on frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, JAX, or Scikit Learn.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Masters with at least 3 years of software development experience or a PhD with 1 year of experience working with LLMs or SLMs through fine-tuning.
- Publication track record in esteemed journals or conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, or ICLR.
- Hands-on experience with 3D geometry or computer vision.
