We are looking for a Technical Lead who is excited about the challenges that come with building a product from the MVP to scalability stage. This role is pivotal, especially with the intricate technical nuances of our product and our aim for a resilient and expandable platform.

As a leader in our Bangalore-based product engineering team, you will work closely with the founding team and designers to build and ship a product that aligns with our vision of empowering seafarers. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the engineering organization, influencing its growth and direction.

Responsibilities

What will you be doing at SeaBoard?

You will be responsible to work with the founding team to own the technical architecture of the product and infrastructure to set standards and lead the development:

Technical Architecture & Governance: Architect and implement product, infrastructure, and technical processes by setting principles, standards, and best practices

Product Development: Participate and lead the development and troubleshooting of the product by analysing requirements, understanding business needs and business logic and converting these into quality code

Team Building & People Growth: Building, managing and setting a positive example for a high-performing technical team culture, especially by guiding junior members

Specifically, you will be doing:

Architect and implement the technical foundation using good software design and development practices and principles
Review current infrastructure design and draft proposals to develop and deploy scalable technologies
Design scalable systems with large-scaled databases, serverless architecture, and distributed computing technologies
Lead and organise engineering projects, ensuring resource optimization
Department planning, including the setting of department goals and OKRs
Planning, management, and execution of technical project plans, ensuring on-time delivery
Coordinate project management, software architects, and other engineering teams in determining overall system solutions
Build and grow a healthy culture for a high-performing technical team together with other senior members by setting a positive example and guiding more junior colleagues

Requirements

Bachelor's or preferrably Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent with 8+ years of work as software architect and full stack developer
Experience leading tech teams to successfully deliver complex technology products at a startup or core-tech corporation
Solid experience architecting and implementing serverless architecture, RESTful web services, and containerized systems
Solid experience with security best practices and its implementation
Robust expertise across technology stacks: cloud solutions (AWS), databases (DynamoDb and PostgreSQL), backend (TypeScript / JavaScript, NodeJS), and modern front-end frameworks (React, Svelte, Angular).
Proficiency in TypeScript & JavaScript: Must exhibit strong executional skills in TypeScript / JavaScript.
AWS Expertise: Must have substantial experience and expertise in architecting and implementing solutions on the Amazon Web Services platform.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to create clarity and share this understanding across diverse teams and settings in both written and spoken
A solid grasp of contemporary practices in agile workflows, TDD, and DevOps paradigms.

Nice to have:

Experience and knowledge in Flutter mobile application development.
A healthy balance of wanting to experiment, dive in, and getting your hands dirty and architecting scalable, performant, and maintainable solutions; a can-do attitude with good time management and problem-solving skills.
A deep care and understanding for end users and an interest in why the business is trying to achieve the user goals
