Sr Staff Software Engineer – Fan and Compressor Airfoil Tools

Role responsibilities include leading and developing physics-based tools to solve some of the challenging design needs for next gen engines. The role demands close collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams and GE Aerospace’s design boards to develop innovative physics-based software solutions. You will also be mentoring new designers during design phase beyond tool capabilities. In addition to leading these programs, you will also play a key role in defining and operationalizing strategic roadmap for next gen engines.
Essential Responsibilities: In this role, you will report to Subsection Manager of Airfoil & Nacelle Design Tools Subsection at GE Aerospace, BEC, JFWTC, Bangalore. Your responsibilities include:
- Lead & guide project team in mechanical airfoil design tools and methods development and be responsible for delivery and quality of these tools
- Collaborate with Mechanical Airfoil design teams (user community) and be responsible for requirements, development, and adoption of these tools.
- Contribute to methodology development and implementing best practices in design tool to drive standardization.
- Provide solutions to develop solid modeling and simulation modeling of new blade configurations.
- Lead and own Mechanical Airfoil design tools & methods team’s delivery schedule adhering to toll gate process followed within GE Aerospace.
- Drive rigor in following SDLC process for Tools development and release (Code update, Integration, Compilation, Testing, Validation, TG review and Release).
- Collaborate with design teams, technical experts and stakeholders for short term and long-term (roadmap) technological advancement of tools.
- Champion awareness of tools and lead efforts for reuse, collaboration, and consolidation.
- Mentor team members and new joiners in tool development, Airfoil design and analysis.
Qualification / Requirements:
- Should have more than 10 years of experience with master’s degree in mechanical engineering domain from an accredited university or college.
- Strong understanding of structural analysis physics, simulation, and geometry.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and developing software solutions using NX, C++.
- Experience in mechanical/structural analysis (Static, Vibrations, Impact etc).
- Strong knowledge of NX-Modeling/NX-Simulation and ANSYS APDL.
- Established project management skills.
- Exposure to SDLC processes and experience in deploying customized tools to users.
- Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
- Ability to work in a cross-functional environment with strong communication and presentation skills.
- Clear thinker and effective problem solver.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships and networks.
- Ability to navigate through uncertainties and define the path for the teams.
- Mentoring and Coaching Skills

- Build multi-type program interfaces, resolve dependencies, and deploy software packages.
- Aware of NPI cycle and tool dependency
- Awareness about ML methods and Python programming.
