Position: GM/AVP- Head Taxation


Location: Mumbai


Job Overview:

We are looking for a seasoned professional to lead our taxation function. The Head of Taxation will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with tax regulations, optimizing tax strategies, and providing strategic guidance to the organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in taxation within the Indian business landscape and a proven track record of managing complex tax matters.


Role Mix: DT 50%, IDT 50%


Responsibilities:

Tax Strategy and Planning:

Develop and implement effective tax strategies to optimize the company's overall tax

position.

Provide strategic advice on tax implications for business decisions and initiatives.

Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify

opportunities for tax optimization.

Compliance and Reporting:

Oversee the preparation and filing of accurate and timely tax returns, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Manage relationships with tax authorities, handling audits and inquiries as necessary.

Monitor and ensure adherence to local, state, and national tax regulations.

Risk Management:

Identify and assess potential tax risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.

Implement robust internal controls to ensure accurate and complete tax reporting.

Tax Accounting and Reporting:

Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure accurate tax accounting in financial

statements (under IND AS/IFRS).

Prepare and review tax provisions and deferred tax calculations.


 Advisory and Training:

Provide tax-related advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on various business

transactions and initiatives.

Conduct training sessions for finance and operational teams to enhance tax awareness and compliance.

Team Leadership:

Lead and mentor the taxation team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

Provide guidance on complex tax issues, supporting professional development within the team.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

Collaborate with finance, legal, and other departments to ensure alignment of tax strategies with overall business objectives.

Advise on the tax implications of business transactions and contracts.


Qualifications and Skills:

Chartered Accountant (CA) - Final qualification is mandatory.

15+ years of experience in taxation, with a focus on Indian enterprises.

In-depth knowledge of Indian tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex tax issues.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Proven leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and lead a team.

Result-driven tax professional with a passion for excellence and a proven ability to navigate the complexities of Indian taxation
