Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst – Job Description

Position Summary

The Quality Assurance Analyst is responsible for testing software applications, identifying defects, and ensuring high-quality deliverables. The role involves creating test plans, executing test cases, documenting results, and collaborating with development teams to improve product quality.

Key Responsibilities

1. Test Planning & Documentation

  • Analyze business requirements and technical specifications.
  • Develop detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
  • Identify test scenarios for functional, regression, and integration testing.

2. Test Execution

  • Execute manual and automated test cases.
  • Validate functionality, performance, and usability of applications.
  • Document test results and log defects in the tracking system (JIRA, Azure DevOps, etc.).

3. Defect Management

  • Identify, report, and track defects through resolution.
  • Work closely with developers to troubleshoot issues.
  • Retest fixes and ensure proper resolution.

4. Quality Control & Process Improvement

  • Ensure adherence to QA standards, best practices, and SDLC process.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and review meetings (Agile).
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance testing efficiency.

5. Collaboration & Communication

  • Work with product owners, business analysts, developers, and project managers.
  • Provide regular updates on testing status and risks.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of SDLC, STLC, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience with test management tools (JIRA, TestRail, Zephyr).
  • Hands-on experience in manual testing.
  • Basic understanding of automation tools (Selenium, Postman, Cypress is a plus).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
