Senior Software Tester

Greater Chennai Area, IN BASE Automation Full time

Responsibilities:

1.Test Planning & Execution:

  • Understand software requirements and create test cases based on functional specifications
  • Execute test cases (manual and automated) to validate software functionality and performance.
  • Identify, document, and track defects in a defect management tool.

2.Automation & Scripting:

  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Selenium, Cypress, or similar tools
  • Perform API testing using tools like Postman or Rest Assured
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining test environments

3.Bug Tracking & Reporting:

  • Log defects with detailed steps to reproduce and collaborate with developers for resolution
  • Perform regression testing to ensure that fixes do not introduce new issues
  • Generate and share test reports with stakeholders

4.Continuous Improvement & Collaboration:

  • Work closely with developers, business analysts, and project managers to improve software quality
  • Contribute to test strategy and process improvement initiatives
  • Stay updated with the latest testing tools and best practices

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter
  • Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodology
  • ISTQB Certification is a plus
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Good communication and documentation skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in software testing (manual and automation)
  • Familiarity with test management tools (JIRA, TestRail, etc.)
  • Experience in automation testing with Selenium, Cypress, or similar tools
  • Knowledge of API testing tools like Postman or Rest Assured
  • Basic understanding of SQL queries for database validation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
