Job Summary:

  • As an Application Development Engineer, you will be responsible to design, developing, and maintain programmable logic controller (PLC), SCADA & HMI system for industrial automation under Charging & Power Transfer product and Railway Equipment’s like HVAC, Door product lines.
  • The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with PLC programming, SCADA & HMI Development, System integration, Installation & commissioning and troubleshooting in manufacturing/industrial environments.
  • You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration into every phase of the software development lifecycle.


Primary responsibilities:

  • Work Closely with electrical engineers, Mechanical engineers and operations team.
  • Understand the electrical schematics and system documents.
  • Shall have very good hands-on experience with PLC programming, SCADA & HMI Development
  • Shall have good system integration, Installation & commissioning and troubleshooting in manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • 5. Shall have very good knowledge of PLC programming using Ladder Diagram (LD), Function Block Diagram (FBD), Structured Text (ST) languages. Instruction List (IL), Sequential Function Chart (SFC) languages are added advantage.
  • Analyse the application requirements and Develop the PLC logic, SCADA and HMI application.
  • Integrate the PLC, SCADA, HMI and any other third-party devices.
  • Create and maintain documentation including the schematics, flowcharts, program logics, test procedure and release note.
  • Conduct system level testing and validation to ensure functionality and reliability.
  • Conduct the testing and validation at Lab and Customer site.
  • Install, Commission and Validate the System on-site, ensuring seamless integration with other automation components.


Qualification and Essential Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in E&C/Electrical with Overall Working experience of 7 to 10 Years of Industrial automation.


General Business

  • Handson Experience with Major PLC Platforms (Siemens, ABB, Mitsubishi, Allen Bradely), RTU’s and IDEs.
  • Handon experience with ISaGRAF software.
  • Handon experience with SCADA and HMI development software (WinCC, Intouch, Factory Talk View)
  • Handon experience with configuring and programming the Communication switch, Encoder, AC and DC Drive, Servo motor & BLDC motor.
  • Technical ability to interpret Electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.


Desired Requirements:

  • Working Experience with Charging and Power Solutions and Railway products like HVAC, Door and other subsystems
  • Understanding the Security concepts and Configuration on the PLC’s /AC Drive


Work Model:

  • The role is primarily office-based, requiring presence at the Wabtec India Whitefield office Bengaluru five days a week.
  • Additionally, need based travel to the Hosur Engineering facility may be necessary to discuss with cross functional team and to validate software at the labs.
  • Candidate requires travel to Wabtec offices in different location, Client facilities and their Sites based on the project needs. Reporting: Engineering Manager, Transit


Software Team Travel:

  • Domestic- ~40% Based on project need to commissioning/Customer site.
  • Shall hold valid Indian passport and all relevant documents for international travels if required.


Physical Requirement:

  • Must be available to work at Wabtec Bengaluru and Hosur facilities and collaborate with global teams and customers.
  • Able to work extended hours on a laptop or system as project demands.
