Job Description & Responsibilities:

  • Ability to collaborate with team members and provide guidance, code review, and technical problem-solving. Serve as a team member as part of an Agile scrum team.
  • Ability to learn Stop Loss and work directly with business stakeholders in understanding needs and requirements and demonstrate that on the software products build.
  • Strong understanding of development and testing techniques and toolsets including but not limited to CIP standards and internal audit.
  • Design, configuration, implementation of middleware products and application design/development within the supported technologies and products
  • Supporting applications through proactive monitoring and troubleshooting, and management design of supported applications assuring performance, availability, security, and capacity
  • Incorporating automated testing, CI/CD, and an Agile/Lean mindset in both collaboration with colleagues as well as in software delivered
  • Responsible for software product engineering deliverables and activities including solution architecture reviews/recommendations, design, development, testing, and automation.
  • Demonstrated skill in using coding standards, reusable code and being an active participant in code reviews.
  • Leverage technical expertise and experience to ensure we are building scalable products that are highly performant and secure
  • Stay current on technology in order to capitalize on new capabilities that can advance business

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Typically, 8 to 11 years of experience in IT, specifically within application development or integration services development.

Experience with the following domains:

  • ETL processes, other data transformation (such as Python) & API integrations required.
  • Platform experience with AWS, Docker, OpenShift required with 3 years of experience.
  • Web application development experience with Angularpreferred.
  • Experience with DevOps tools and approaches including Automated testing and CI/CD
  • Database & Data Modelling, with SQL experience required
  • 2-3 years handson Experience with Databricks.

Experience Desired:

  • Reverse engineering systems specifications / code analysis to refine functional understanding or performing impact assessment
  • Leverage existing open-source frameworks, third party components/libraries to develop robust enterprise solutions. Mentality towards integrating and reusing existing capabilities vs building from scratch is highly desired.

Education and Training Required:

Skills to have:

Advanced concepts with relevant, hands-on experience in many of the following areas are generally preferred:

  • Complex Event Processing. OOP or Enterprise Integration Patterns
  • Service Oriented Architecture (event-driven SOA, Web Services, REST, ESB)
  • Message driven architecture (JMS, SOA, Spring, Red Hat Fuse, Camel)
  • Database development & tuning (Databricks)
  • Performance (threading, indexing, clustering, caching)
  • Transaction Management
  • Document-centric data architecture (XML DB/NoSQL/JSON)
  • UI development (HTML5, Angular, Bootstrap)
  • Scripting (Unix Shell, Python)
  • Familiarity with how copybooks, SOAP, Schema, WSDLs and XMLs are put together
  • Experience with Agile development (SCRUM methodology) desired

  • Analytical Skills: Candidate must be able to recognize the needs of customers and create simple solutions that answer those needs. Ability to document analysis and scenarios is critical.
  • Communication: Candidate must be able to clearly communicate their ideas to peers, stakeholders, and management.
  • Creativity: Creativity is needed to help invent new ways of approaching problems and developing innovative applications as well as bringing experience from other industries.
  • Customer-Service: If dealing directly with clients and customers, candidate would need good customer service skills and consultant mentality to answer questions and fix issues.
  • Attention to Detail: Applications have many parts and all must work together for the application to function.
  • Problem-Solving: As issues come up, candidate must be able to make decisions that move the project forward.
  • Teamwork: Candidate must work well with others as part of a distributed agile (SAFe) team of developers, analysts, QA, and more.
  • Industry Experience: Prior work experience within Insurance, Health Insurance, or Stop Loss preferred.
