- Prioritize database optimization opportunities to pre or post migration

- Work with Architects to plan migration onto AWS MySQL

Mandatory Skills :


- Upgrade SQL Servers, Migrate SQL Servers from On-premises to Cloud (AWS), Assessment & Performance Tuning

Job Summary :

- We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior MySQL Database Administrator to join our team.

- The successful candidate will be responsible for profiling, validating, and optimizing our current MySQL database environment.

- You will work closely with our architects to plan and execute a seamless migration of our databases to AWS MySQL.

- Your expertise will ensure our databases are optimized for performance and reliability, both pre- and post-migration.

Key Responsibilities :

- Profile Current MySQL Database Environment:

- Conduct thorough assessments of the current MySQL database setup.

- Analyze data architecture and .com databases for usage patterns, data flow, and performance metrics.

Validate Databases and DDLs :

- Review and validate current database schemas (DDL - Data Definition Language).

- Ensure that all database structures adhere to best practices and organizational standards.

Usage Data Analysis :

- Collect and analyze database usage data to identify trends and potential issues.

- Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to improve database performance.

Identify and Prioritize Optimization Opportunities :

- Identify areas for database optimization including indexing, query performance, and storage management.

- Categorize and prioritize optimization tasks that can be executed before and after migration.

Migration Planning and Execution :

- Collaborate with architects to develop a detailed migration plan for moving databases to AWS MySQL.

- Ensure that migration plans minimize downtime and disruption to services.

- Execute migration tasks, including data transfer, schema conversion, and validation.

Post-Migration Optimization :

- Monitor the performance of databases after migration to AWS MySQL.

- Implement necessary optimizations to ensure databases operate at peak performance.

- Address any post-migration issues promptly and efficiently.

Collaboration and Documentation :

- Work closely with cross-functional teams including developers, system administrators, and project managers.

- Document all processes, configurations, and changes made to the database environment.

Qualifications :

Experience :


- 8-10 years of hands-on experience as a MySQL DBA.

Education :


- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Technical Skills :

- Extensive experience with MySQL databases, including performance tuning and optimization.

- Proficiency in database profiling and usage data analysis.

- Strong understanding of database architecture and .com database management.

- Experience with AWS MySQL (Amazon RDS, Aurora) and cloud migration processes.

- Familiarity with DDL and SQL scripting.

- Knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery planning.

- Experience with database monitoring tools and techniques.

Soft Skills :

- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

- Strong communication and collaboration skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high standards.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Certifications in MySQL or AWS (e., AWS Certified Database - Specialty).

- Experience with other database management systems (DBMS).

- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools
