Senior Data Engineer

Key Responsibilities :

Data Architecture & Design :

- Lead the design and implementation of data architectures, including data warehouses, distributed data platforms, data lakes, and ETL processes.

- Develop scalable and reliable data pipelines to ingest, process, and store large volumes of structured and unstructured data.

- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure data solutions align with business goals.

Data Pipeline Development :

- Build and maintain ETL processes that support various data needs across the organization.

- Optimize and refactor existing data pipelines for better performance, reliability, and scalability.

- Implement data quality checks and ensure data integrity across all data processing stages.

Cloud, Modern Data Engineering & Big Data Technologies :

- Manage and optimize could based data platforms using AWS technologies such as AWS Glue, Lambda, Step Function, RDS, DMS, Redshift, Athena, QuickSight, EventBridge, SNS, SQS, CodeBuild, CloudWatch, IAM.

- Leverage open source modern data engineering technologies such as Apache Spark,- Apache NiFi, Apache Airflow, Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, Open table/file formats (Delta/Hudi/Iceberg) to process and analyze large datasets, and build enterprise scale data products.

- Ensure data security and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g, GDPR, HIPAA).

Collaboration & Leadership :

- Mentor and guide junior data engineers and interns in best practices and advanced techniques.

- Work closely with data scientists and analysts to support their data needs and facilitate data-driven decision-making.

- Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of data engineering processes.

Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting :

- Monitor data pipelines and infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.

- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in a timely manner.

- Implement logging and monitoring tools to proactively detect and address potential issues.

Qualifications :

Education :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

- A Master's degree is a plus.

Experience :

- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on data architecture, ETL processes, and cloud platforms.

- Proven experience in designing and implementing large-scale data solutions.

Skills :

- Deep understanding of relational and non-relational databases, and- hands-on advanced SQL based development.

- Expertise in AWS and modern data engineering technologies.

- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.

- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Certifications :

- Relevant certifications in cloud platforms, big data, or data engineering are a plus.

Nice to Have :

- Working knowledge on DevOps practices, CI/CD implementations, Infrastrucutre as code using Terraform, API/Microservices development, and shell scripting.
