Work you’ll do
We are urgently seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader for the role of managing Trade Finance Operations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical knowledge of trade finance instruments and processes, with a strong focus on operational excellence and compliance within the banking or financial services industry. Additionally, the candidate should have substantial experience in team management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Trade Finance Operations: Oversee the end-to-end processing of trade finance transactions, including Letters of Credit (LC), Bills of Exchange, Bills of Lading, and Documentary Collections.
- Technical Compliance: Ensure all trade finance activities comply with UCP 600, ISBP, Incoterms, and other relevant international trade guidelines and banking regulations.
- Documentation Management: Supervise the preparation, review, and processing of trade finance documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify and resolve discrepancies in trade finance documentation to minimize financial risk and avoid processing delays.
- System Management: Oversee the input and validation of transaction details in internal systems, ensuring data integrity and timely processing.
- Client Support: Provide technical support and clarification to clients regarding trade finance documentation requirements and transaction status.
- Audit & Recordkeeping: Maintain comprehensive audit trails and documentation for all trade finance transactions, ensuring readiness for internal and external audits.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance trade finance processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of trade finance professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Ensure effective team collaboration and performance management.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate/Postgraduate in Finance, Commerce, or related discipline; MBA preferred.
- Experience: 12 to 16 years of relevant experience in trade finance, with a strong technical background and at least 5 years of team management experience.
- Certification: CDCS (Certified Documentary Credit Specialist) preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of UCP 600, ISBP, Incoterms, and trade finance products such as LC, BG, Documentary Collections.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to meticulously analyze trade finance documents to identify and rectify errors or discrepancies.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on technical accuracy and compliance.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to clients and stakeholders.
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple transactions and priorities within tight turnaround times.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage teams, with a focus on fostering collaboration and high performance.
