The Senior Leader – ITC India will be responsible for overseeing adherence to global sanctions and export controls in India for GE Aerospace, helping to shape and deploy the strategic vision for obtaining and managing authorisations. This will include authorisations required under India’s DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade) and SCOMET (Special Chemicals, Organisms, Materials, Equipment and Technologies) regulations, and those required under the US Export Administration Regulations (EAR). This position will be responsible for measuring against key performance metrics, and for effective collaboration with ITC Leadership to drive compliant execution across all GE Aerospace India locations.

Job Description Summary

The International Trade Compliance (ITC) team is responsible for the compliant execution of global export control and sanctions laws and regulations. The successful candidate will work closely with the ITC team and GE Aerospace programs/functions to compliantly apply trade laws and regulations to support and drive business in GE Aerospace India.

Reporting directly to the Senior Compliance Leader, GE Aerospace, JFWTC will be responsible for leading trade compliance at all GE Aerospace sites in India.

The Senior Leader – ITC India will be responsible for overseeing adherence to global sanctions and export controls in India for GE Aerospace, helping to shape and deploy the strategic vision for obtaining and managing authorizations. Key responsibilities

  • Establish a collaborative relationship with GE Aerospace sites in India, deploying and embedding authorization-related policies, procedures, and tools to support and drive international business.
  • Support a strong culture of compliance in the effective management of export authorizations and sanctions.
  • Monitor proposed authorization-related laws and regulations and provide advice to business stakeholders regarding implications and requirements on GEA’s business strategy.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with business unit compliance leads on authorization management, technology and commodity export transactions.
  • Implement and maintain appropriate recordkeeping policies and procedures and satisfy applicable reporting requirements.
  • Develop and deliver authorization-specific trade compliance training.
  • Set and execute toward key performance and key risk metrics.
  • Engage Business Leadership to drive business execution.
  • Collaborate with Senior Leader ITC APAC and other ITC leaders to drive continuous improvement.
  • Audit compliance to export and sanction laws, and to GE Aerospace ITC policy.
  • With support from the Senior Leader ITC APAC, Lead engagement and communication with government officials, as required.
  • Undertake special projects and support other compliance program continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in relevant trade compliance associations and industry group discussions.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in International Trade Compliance.
  • Previous experience in the management of compliance with the US export regulations and sanctions regulations outside of the US.
  • Previous experience in the management of compliance with Indian export controls and sanctions.
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt and grow in an expanding organization.
  • Commitment to compliance and integrity.
  • Ability to collaborate among all levels of the ITC organization and business.
  • Ability to learn export control and sanctions regulations in new markets.
  • Self-starter who can develop effective networks with internal customers and external

stakeholders.

Desired qualifications

  • Graduate/Post Graduate in any discipline with strong experience in International Trade Compliance/Customs.
  • Previous experience in working in matrix environment, building networks.
  • Strong time management, prioritization, analytical, and organizational skills, with ability to meet deadlines and achieve desired results.
  • Excellent customer relationship, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptable and capable of managing multiple initiatives, both collaboratively and independently.
  • Experience in international business, contracts, supply chain, engineering, or relevant

discipline.

  • Understanding of the process surrounding assessing jurisdiction and classification of items.
