The Centre for Digital Technologies in Healthcare (CDiTH) at IIIT Hyderabad is a healthcare-focused Research Translation Centre—dedicated to applying and extending academic research into real-world solutions.

Our vision is to improve the efficacy, affordability, and reach of healthcare delivery in India and beyond by leveraging modern digital technologies. CDiTH actively works on solutions across public health, early screening & diagnostics, clinical decision support, and surgical data science, using technologies such as Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, and Application Development.


Role Summary

The Research Translation Fellow earns MS Degree from IIIT Hyderabad, while simultaneously building healthcare technology solutions that bridge academic research and real-world needs. The MS curriculum followed is the same as that followed by SMSR program (provide link) but RTF is a full time program that additionally enables applying the knowledge for practical usage in the domain of Healthcare. RTF is a 3 year program where the fellow shall work for 35 hours/week on Translation work and 15 hours/week towards earning MS degree.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  1. Understand the customer problem & ask clearly. Research on the problem space to ensure adequate understanding of the domain.
  2. Evaluate the different existing technologies/libraries, options and alternatives available for solving the problem.
  3. Design & build end-end applications integrating with AI models and deploy them in real life settings. Applications involve a combination of tasks including UI development, API development, Data Exploration & analysis, ML Development, AI Model design & selection, cloud based deployment etc.
  4. Follow best engineering practices and continuously integrate & test in the target environment.
  5. Act as a Team/Project lead and ensure successful execution of the project
  6. Interact with fellow engineers, leads, research assistants and professors, to collaboratively make progress, assess the right approach and validate the solution


Required Qualifications

  1. Minimum 5 years of professional experience.
  2. Strong technical background with deep understanding of system design and frameworks(e.g., Web Development, API Development, Full Stack, Cloud Ops, Data Engineering, Machine Learning, etc.)
  3. End-to-end project engineering experience — from design to deployment.
  4. Keen interest in emerging technologies, frameworks, and open-source tools.
  5. Appreciation for research and interest in engaging with academic work.


Compensation

Fellowship stipend is set at ₹1,00,000 per month, along with MS enrollment, access to research resources, and opportunities for collaborative work with healthcare partners.
