Position Overview

The Head of Global Logistics will lead the end-to-end logistics function for Biocon Biologics, encompassing global transportation, site warehouse operations (Johor, Malaysia & Bangalore, India), weighing & dispensing, and international trade management. This individual will be responsible for ensuring that the company’s global logistics network is efficient, compliant, resilient, and capable of supporting growth across all markets.

The role requires a seasoned logistics leader with deep expertise in global freight, distribution, warehousing operations, and regulatory compliance, coupled with the ability to drive transformation and digitalization in a complex biopharmaceutical environment.

Key Responsibilities

Global Transportation

· Lead all aspects of international and domestic transportation for APIs/drug substance, drug product, and finished goods across global markets.

· Develop freight strategies that balance cost, service, and risk, including partnerships with ocean, air, and ground carriers.

· Drive strategic programs (e.g., modal shift, sustainability initiatives, freight cost optimization).

· Oversee temperature-controlled and cold chain logistics, ensuring GDP compliance.

Warehouse Operations (Johor & Bangalore)

· Provide leadership for site warehouse operations, including raw materials, intermediates, drug product, and finished goods.

· Oversee weighing and dispensing operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and safety.

· Standardize warehouse processes (receiving, storage, dispensing, order fulfillment, cycle counts) across sites.

· Implement and monitor KPIs (inventory accuracy, order cycle time, throughput, compliance).

· Drive warehouse automation, digitization, and continuous improvement.

Import & Export / Trade Compliance

· Oversee import/export operations globally, ensuring compliance with customs, DGFT, FEMA, GST, FDA, EMA, and other regulatory requirements.

· Manage global trade compliance policies, including documentation, tariffs, licensing, and sanctions adherence.

· Build and maintain strong relationships with customs authorities, freight forwarders, and brokers.

· Drive process improvements to reduce clearance times and optimize duties/taxes.

Leadership & Transformation

· Build and develop a high-performing logistics team across geographies.

· Champion digital tools and logistics visibility platforms to enable real-time decision-making.

· Foster a culture of compliance, safety, and continuous improvement.

· Partner cross-functionally with Supply Planning, Procurement, Quality, and Commercial to ensure end-to-end supply reliability.

· Develop and execute logistics strategies that support enterprise growth, market expansion, and patient access.

Qualifications

· 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in logistics, warehousing, and transportation, preferably within biopharma or regulated industries.

· Deep expertise in cold chain logistics, GDP/GMP compliance, and international trade regulations.

· Proven track record in leading global logistics networks with multi-site warehouse responsibility.

· Strong experience with 3PL/4PL partnerships, freight contract negotiation, and global trade compliance.

· Familiarity with SAP EWM, TMS, WMS, and digital logistics visibility platforms.

· Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and cross-cultural collaboration skills.

· Advanced degree preferred (MBA, Supply Chain, Operations, or related).
