Role : Mainframe Developer


Position Overview :

As a Mainframe Developer at SailPoint Technologies, you will engage in designing, developing, and maintaining complex mainframe applications within an IBM z/OS environment. This role requires a combination of advanced technical skills, independent problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative approach to working within a team.

You will play a key role in leveraging your expertise to tackle intricate challenges while contributing to the development of cutting-edge identity and access management solutions.

Key Responsibilities :

- Complex Problem Solving: Handle issues of complex scope by applying standard concepts and principles.

- You will be expected to devise solutions that are both innovative and practical, utilizing your extensive knowledge in mainframe development technologies.

- Independent Execution: Operate as a fully contributing team member, planning and executing tasks independently while adhering to broad guidance.

- Your role will require self-direction and the ability to adapt to evolving technologies and conditions.

- Technical Expertise: Possess in-depth knowledge of programming languages and development technologies relevant to the mainframe environment, including C, C++, Assembler, JCL, and REXX on z/OS.

- Continuously build upon your domain knowledge and technical skills, adapting to new or changed conditions as necessary.

- Communication Skills: Demonstrate excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.

- You will need to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and respond to detailed queries effectively.

- Automation and Debugging: Apply build and test automation methodologies and possess strong diagnostic, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.

- Your expertise in problem determination, analysis, and resolution will be crucial for maintaining high-quality mainframe applications.

- Source Code Management: Manage source code efficiently using Git or other version control systems.

- Your role will involve ensuring that code is properly maintained and integrated within the development pipeline.

- Judgment and Independence: Use your judgment to independently determine appropriate courses of action.

- Execute your plans with minimal supervision, ensuring that solutions are both effective and aligned with organizational standards.

Desired Skills and Experience :

- Security Knowledge: Familiarity with IBM z/OS security systems such as RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret is advantageous.

- This knowledge will aid in ensuring the secure management of access within the mainframe environment.

- Exposure to Java: Experience with Java is a nice-to-have skill, adding versatility to your development capabilities and allowing for greater flexibility in handling diverse projects.
